Worried I chose the wrong uni

I'm in a dilemma on what uni I should go, a campus uni or a city one for student life. I've heard campus unis are easier to make friends and socialise while city unis are quite isolated and spread out and you have to make the most of it. I've got offers from both Surrey and KCL for nutritional sciences and Surrey seems more friendlier and is higher in leage tables, KCL has been my dream uni when I was young, but the low student satisfaction worries me. What should I do?

Which course do you prefer? Are there any optional units to think about - ie. what would you choose of you went there? Do any of them have a placement / work experience? What links to industry does each Uni have? Etc, etc
Why is KCL your 'dream' Uni - based on what? And remember, living in London is expensive.

Hi! Firstly congratulations on your offers for both universities! 😁

My names Matt and I am a first year student at Liverpool John Moores. LJMU is a city uni and I have found it to be really fun! Although it seemed like everything would be really far away from my accommodation, all my lectures and everything I need access to is only a few minutes walk up the road! Although it might seem more difficult to make friends as you are not on a campus I can assure you it makes absolutely no difference and there are endless opportunities to make friends whether thats on your course or through societies or the people you share your first year accommodation with.

Have you considered attending the open days and applicant days for the two universities you have received offers from? I found this to be an amazing way to get a proper feel for the city and also to decide whether I liked the feeling of walking around a campus or whether I preferred walking through the city to get to my lectures! From a student at a city campus I can truly say I love every aspect of university and I wouldn't want it any other way! Both types of unis have their pros and cons but at the end of the day you should always do what you feel like you want to do and what you think will make you happy.

Also is there any differences in the courses at the two unis that makes one stand out from the other? Sometimes, even if the course name is the same, the content can vary between unis and this can help some people decide on where to go.

I hope this response has helped you in some way. It is a huge decision and therefore completely normal to find it difficult to confirm a uni choice so don't feel as though you are the only one! Please don't hesitate to ask any more questions you may have about city unis, I am more than happy to help!.

Thank you, Matt ☺️
