Am I asking too much?

So I (17f) made a friend online about 1-2 months ago and we message each other every other day. I like texting this person and I often get excited when they reply back. The only thing is that sometimes this person can take like 2-3 business days to reply back 😭 But that's not even the main issue. I often feel like the friendship is one sided. I usually ask them questions to keep the conversation going, tell them about my day and ask them how their day is going. They usually won't text except I text first, which I don't really like because it feels like I'm putting all the effort and they aren't. They used to be homeschooled for quite a long time and didn't have the best school experience before that, so it might be because of that.
All I really want is that they also put effort into this friendship too as I would still like to be friends with them.

But maybe I'm reading into this too much.

My question is whether I'm being reasonable for feeling this way and whether I should address the problem to my friend?

I think you're entirely right to feel that way. No one would like to be the only one trying to talk it's just frustrating. I guess try to not read into it too much but also don't get so invested to a point where it's gonna hurt so bad when you stop trying. My best friend sometimes takes a long time to reply as well but that's just how he texts it's annoying and he knows but oh well we've been friends long enough to know we're fine

But this is exactly how it feels like for most guys when we try to talk to girls we like so now you know🤣

In addition to what @Jules_notjules said, did you talk about it with that friend?
Try to ask them "what took you so long to answer?" with an nice emoji, so they won't think you are angry with them...
Try to start a conversation about it. Maybe they have a reason.

Good to know I'm not overreacting too much and thanks for both of your replies. @Kathy89 I have sort of tried something familiar to what you've said like saying 'its good to hear from you again 🙂' but I could give your advice a try too
