I want to study computer science at university but i dont know if im good enough?

Hello guys

At GCSEs i got one 8 in computer science, two 7s in maths and language, five 6s in physics, chemistry, business, literature, further maths and 2 fives in biology and history (87766666655)

Im currently in year 12 and studying maths, physics and computer science where my predicted grades are ABB (i will hopefully get A*AA)

I would like to apply to university of Birmingham, Manchester, Loughborough and Warwick but im not sure if im good enough for them

Extra things i have is
- EDT (gold crest award)
- learning CS50 python
- leaf program of dangers of AI,
- some python projects here and there
- learning responsive web design by free code camp
- practicing leetcode
- virtual workshop for data management by TTN
- teaching assistant work experience at my primary school

Does anyone have any recommendations on what i can do in order to get into any of my desired universities to study computer science? Any advice at all would be great, thanks

Not a CS applicant but I think you already have enough supercurriculars for those unis, so all that would matter now is getting the right A level predictions:smile: . Also are you contextual? Because for Warwick you'd need A*A*A + the TMUA if you aren't.

Your predicted grades are alittle low and CS is competitive. Its ok to apply to some of these but do have a couple at your predicted grades and also one safe option, below. You need to hedge your bets

As above, the gap between your predicted grades and the entry requirements for your choices does reach a bit. You do say you're in year 12 though, so it's still a bit early to lock things in. Try and work hard to improve your predictions, so that all five options are realistic by the time you're applying. Otherwise, you may have to reconsider some of your options to be more in line with your predicted grades.

Like others have said, you need to get those predicted grades up or you can forget about some of those unis. You can also take Warwick off your list. Some unis also have GCSE requirements which are non-negotiable. These are Warwick's - "You will need a strong set of GCSE grades including the majority at A (or 7) and A* (or 8-9)".

If you could get your predicted up to AAA then it may also be worth considering Durham, Southampton or Bristol. All are comparable with the others you’ve listed (Warwick excluded).

Hey, you have great GCSEs and good predicted A-levels! Some universities might offer you contextual offers depending on personal factors, I think its pretty cool you're already doing leetcode already at year 12. Your super curriculars show that you have great interest in the course, I think you've got this! If you're feeling extra unsure, talking to a mentor at your school might help. Northeastern University London offers joint degrees such as CS + Business and CS + Philosophy if you're interested as a back up option, the entry requirements are just a 5 in GCSE maths and our typical offers are BBB - ABB (We're an American Institution if that helps) However, all the best with your studies, I'm confident you've got this!
