Internacional students problems

Hi, my name is Natalia, and I'm thinking to start a internacional student life, and I want to know which specific challenges I may face in the UK, ones I may not come across doing research. Thanks

Hi there @Nati_5056 , I am an international student at Kingston University 🙂 I think the greatest struggle some people face would be language barrier and navigating a new environment alongside its systems (eg. banking, health care, transport)! Things like applying for a national insurance number, registering at a local GP, finding a place to rent, or getting the best student discounts are few things that I had to face when i first came to the UK to study 🙂 I hope this helps and please let me know if you have any questions.

Hey @Nati_5056 how are you? 🤗

Culture shock is a very real phenomenon, there's a great article here from the UK Council for International Student Affairs on how to help yourself, including things like keeping in touch with home, have familiar things around you like photographs and ornaments, getting involved with clubs and societies. It also highlights some of the elements that contribute to culture shock such as climate, food, language, dress, values etc, so it might help in your research 🙂

What are you thinking of studying? Wishing you the best of luck for your university journey
