TSR Honorary Degrees 2025 - Congratulations to the winners!

Welcome to the TSR University

Starting in 2024, the University of The Student Room* awards honorary degrees to those users who have demonstrated a long-term commitment to this website and the communities and forums within it.

All honorary degrees were decided by a combination of the TSR Volunteer Team members and the TSR Community Staff. Number of honorary degrees are capped and as are the number of Forum Helpers who are able to receive one.

It is an honour to be on a website with such amazing posters, and this is just one way of recognising their brilliance and saying thank you.**

*This is not a real university, so sorry. For full terms and conditions please click here

If you want to suggest a user to be a recipient of an honorary degree next year, please make a thread here. However, please remember that these are not subject to a public vote.

999tigger

For 5 years, and with well over 70 thousand posts, 999tigger has primarily spent time on this site responded to questions that hadn't got an answer before. They selflessly sought out the threads and the users who had not been helped already and in doing so have supported people during what might be very crucial moments in their lives. This isn't mentioning the countless others who will have read 999tigger's advice and been helped by it - who may never have created an account on the website. Not only that, but 999tigger's succinct and helpful style has given guidance to plenty of other users who are giving support to others on The Student Room. From relationship dramas to study help, medical admissions to finance careers; 999tigger was truly an all-rounder and had a lot of patience in dealing with some incredibly ambiguous questions. Thank you 999tigger.

AngryJellyfish

AngryJellyfish has been a member of the volunteer community in some form for 9 years, having been a regular on the site now for 20 years. With over 55 thousand posts on the site, AngryJellyfish has made a huge contribution to many areas of the forum - especially in the areas for life around learning. Most people know AngryJellyfish for being an enthusiast of anime and other entertainment media. Others know AngryJellyfish for the witty remarks that often appear during updates to TSR's site design. AngryJellyfish is being awarded, above all, for the long-term dedication shown to this website and this community. For 2 years AngryJellyfish led the Entertainment volunteers and with that numerous initiatives for projects on the site. Furthermore, AngryJellyfish has given an awful lot of time behind the scenes to making sure TSR is a safe and welcoming environment for all. Thank you AngryJellyfish.
BurstingBubbles

BurstingBubbles has been part of the volunteer community in some form for 11 years. For 7 of those years, BurstingBubbles led the volunteers for the Life & Style area of the site. Leading numerous projects, including taking responsibility for TSR's pride month content for a number of years on the trot, BurstingBubbles has contributed towards TSR being a more inclusive and welcoming place for all users. BurstingBubbles has also used the experience volunteering to support lots of the community staff, especially during difficult periods over the pandemic and during staff changeovers - the guidance and consistency BurstingBubbles has provided has allowed TSR to continue offering support to its most vulnerable users - in particular those suffering from poor mental health. Thank you BurstingBubbles.

CoolCavy

CoolCavyis probably best known as one of the site's most creative users - having won TSR's Most Creative Member award 6 times in a row. Also winning member of the year in 2019, CoolCavy has always held a large presence in the community since joining the site 10 years ago. CoolCavy has also inspired many others by blogging about experiences overcoming the challenges life throws at us and becoming successful in the workplace. CoolCavy was one of the earliest users to reach 12 rep gems from a combination of supportive helpful posting, not being afraid to post opinions on the site and a witty comment every now and then. The number of users who have worn an avatar that has been designed by CoolCavy is countless, and having worked closely within the volunteers for 7 years, CoolCavy is an incredibly asset to making TheStudentRoom what it is today. Thank you CoolCavy.
Democracy

Winner of TSR's Best Debater 4 years in a row, Democracy receives this honorary degree for multiple reasons. First of all, volunteering to help moderate the site's Debate and Discussion section for 3 years - and leading the team doing this for the majority of that time. However, Democracy has also had a significant influence over the Medicine community on TSR, with thousands of posts in those forums over a whopping 16 years. As Democracy approaches 20 years on The Student Room, this honorary degree is to thank them for helping to shape the site and the community. Thank you, Democracy.

Doones

Member of the year 2018 and the "member that speaks the most sense" 3 years running, Doones became known for characterful, witty but heartfelt advice to many anxious applicants to competitive courses up and down the land - but especially to the colleges in Cambridge. Famous for creating graphs about applicant emotions during the process of applying, Doones became an authority on a variety of topics and worked hard to dispel many myths about the Cambridge and Oxford stereotypes. Doones also volunteered on the site for 6 years, leading the universities section for half that time and was always a positive role model in this regard. Thank you Doones.
Emma:-)

Emma:-) has been a Forum Helper on the site for seven years - supporting the Entertainment and Careers areas of the site. Never one to attract lots of attention, Emma:-) has tirelessly helped many many others with tips for the workplace / their future career, or simply creating threads for people to enjoy chatting about a new TV show. Emma:-) has spent 16 years being a very positive influence on The Student Room and we are very lucky to continue having Emma:-) on our screens. Thank you, Emma:-).

Interrobang

Interrobang is one of the most underappreciated people to ever grace The Student Room, because a lot of Interrobang's contributions have never been made public. Interrobang has been a member of The Student Room community for almost 20 years, and first joined the Personal Statement Helper team in 2008. Interrobang led the PS Review team from 2016 until 2023 and during that 15 year period helped several thousand young people achieve university offers. Even more remarkable is Interrobang's work supporting users of The Student Room who are at their most desperate. For 7 years Interrobang was part of a team of Peer Support Volunteers on the site, a group of volunteers who responded to and supported users who posted about self-harming or suicidal thoughts. These posts were always in private forums away from public eyes - and Interrobang deserves a lot more credit for the users supported during this time. Thank you, Interrobang.
Juno

One of the site's earliest moderators, Juno was a global moderator on The Student Room during 2006-07. Juno was also a personal statement helper, Juno's first review was in 2005 and the last in 2018. In addition to work on personal statements and time early on moderating the site, Juno has been a consistent advice-giver on many topics including Business study help. Juno receives this award for the longevity of commitment to the site. Thank you, Juno.

Pathway

Pathway has been a present and supportive member of our community since 2015. Half of Pathways posts 15 thousand posts on The Student Room are in one forum - mental health. Pathway has been a central figure in the Mental Health Support Society and wider forum. Pathway has supported a lot of The Student Room's more vulnerable users - whilst also recognising we all need support ourselves at times. Pathway has been instrumental at dispelling myths about Mental Health on the site, that we all have mental health and all need support at times. Thank you, Pathway.
RDKGames

RDKGames has spent 10 years and 20 thousand posts helping students with their maths. Maths is a subject that some people love, but a lot more people need. The Student Room's Maths forum is one of the most popular areas of the site where users want help understanding very complex or much simpler mathematical concepts. RDKGames has been there for it all - and often without a thank you, lots of users get the answer they need and leave without posting of their gratitude. On behalf of them all, thank you RDKGames.

Reality Check

Reality Check has been a member of the community since 2016, on and off. Reality Check is best known for providing sharp, factual and succinct advice to users - with a keen interest in helping others who may have been misguided in their advice to other users too. Reality Check has brough to The Student Room a fresh and honest perspective on many issues, including a lack of transparency between staff and community - the effects of which has been a shift in the way staff communicate changes to community users on the site. Whether it be showing kindness to a vulnerable user in a tricky position on results day or giving somebody a grounding when they insist on things that are wrong - Reality Check has been such a force for good on the site. Thank you, Reality Check.
spotify95

Altogether, the counting threads have generated hundreds of thousands of posts on the site, if not over a million between them by this point. This started, 12 years ago, by spotify95 - who created TSR's very first Count to a Million (CTAM) thread, whilst trying to beat a different forum website into reaching that same goal. While not everybody's cup of tea, the counting threads have become a constant throughout TSR's turbulent last 12 years and have fostered a wider community within forum games. All of that started with spotify95, thank you spotify95.

Tracey_W

The Student Room is one of the marvellous places on the internet which provides information on quite complex things for young people. One of those things is admissions to university, but even harder to navigate can be admissions to healthcare courses at university. Tracey_W is a member who can always be relied upon to provide good advice and support to midwifery applicants and current students in one of the quieter corners of TSR. For the last 5 years Tracey_W has offered accurate help and advice on topics that often aren't simple, and like some others graduating from the TSR University with an honorary degree this year - are often not thanked enough. On behalf of all the users who don't stop to thank you - thank you, Tracey_W.
the bear

How do you introduce the bear? the bear started posting on The Student Room 20 years ago, and has grown (evolved?) into a one-user-sensation. With over 100 thousand posts on the site and 4 thousand threads started, the bear is one of the most prolific users TSR has ever seen. Known these days for regular pun threads, the bear has always been a very creative member of the community and was the first user to reach 12 gems under the current reputation system. Not content with this, the bear has also created a folklore around the gems which has been running now for 12 years. Success mountain and the myths surround it has become so well embedded within the TSR community it is difficult to think of The Student Room without it. Not content with only the fun side, the bear has also posted plenty of help & support in many areas of the site over the years, including lots of help with maths questions and bear's revision cave. For the scale and longevity of the bear's commitment to the site, this award is bestowed. Thank you, the bear.:bear:

Congratulations, Monsieur Le Bear! :penguinhug:

Is it terrible that when I read the first sentence of MR's post about you, the tune 'How Do You Solve A Problem Like Maria?' came into my head?

:getmecoat:

Well done!
