Help picking my third a level

I want to do medicine at university so im going to take Biology and Chemistry as my first 2 A-levels but I either wanted to do Psychology or English as my third. But my careers advisor said I would be restricted from some unis because they favour physics or maths but my strengths lies with English which is what I want to take preferably. Which unis would accept someone who takes Bio, Chem and English Lit??

According to all the universities I've visited all of their admissions teams say that the 3rd alevel doesn't matter whatsoever, as long as you get an A or higher in it. (or depending on the university maybe even a B). Also it's important to note that the universities don't really take what a levels you take into consideration, unless specifically stated on their entrance requirement page on their website. What really matters is your UCAT score. So choose whatever you think you'll get a higher grade in.

My friend has the same problem and she's decided to take Bio, Chem, English and Maths at AS-level, so if that's an option at your school you could do that - whilst it's not the full A-level it's more advantageous than doing no maths. If you can't/ don't want to do that I think you should be fine anyway as most unis just need bio & chem for A-levels

The only unis you couldn't apply to would be oxbridge, so if you're confident you could get a high grade in english then that is much more important for applying to med school if you aren't looking to apply there

You can't get in Cambridge for Medicine without 3 particular (not Psychology) science/maths subjects, one needing to be Chemistry, but you CAN get in Oxford, Edinburgh, Bristol, for Medicine with your choices (2 particular sciences (not Psychology), one needing to be Chemistry, plus an additional accepted A Level).

You can also get in King's College London, Imperial, and UCL for Medicine with your choices (must have Chemistry and Biology plus an additional accepted A Level).

I could continue to look at the websites of universities offering Medicine but the likelihood is that nearly all if not all in the UK except Cambridge will accept your choices.

Yiu could apply to any uni in the UK except Cambridge (who requires 3STEM a levels). Everywhere else says they have no preference - and so they couldn't discriminate against you compared to someone who took maths.
