iPad or Macbook?

I have been thinking about which one to buy. I really want to buy both, preferably refurbished as i know i can find great deals on both. But which one would help me more with my a levels in September? I will be taking chem, bio, physics and maths alongside EPQ. I heard ipads are great for note taking and macbooks are great for any other work.

I have both and I only use my iPad occasionally in school but at home I use my Macbook way more and prefer it overall. iPads are great for notetaking but I prefer writing my notes on paper and my school doesn't allow us to use iPads during lesson, so take your notetaking preferences into consideration. But iPads are useful for past papers so you don't have to print but you could just reference the paper and answer the questions on a notebook. Macbooks are also better for anything else as you won't just be using your iPad or Macbook for work, you'll also be using it for entertainment. I do bio, chem, maths and did an EPQ last year by the way. Macbooks are wayyyy more useful for EPQ as you're gonna have to type up your essay. I've also seen people swear by their iPads so it really depends.

Thanks so much, I'm going off to college where they will let us use our ipads in lessons so thats a plus and also i will write my notes digitally on my ipad so yeah i feel like it will be used often, especially on the train. The macbook will be used for typing my flashcards, EPQ stuff and UCAS and american college applications. Do you have any recommendations on the iPad and Macbook?

Get a computer that has a detachable or flipable keyboard, so you can have both.

My son uses an iPad extensively for physics and maths as his school allow him to. He also has a laptop (not MacBook) as he needs both really.

Do not get a MacBook it’s useless it’s garbage I regret having one paying 1300 dollars when I was in America and I paid 1250 for my pc. U don’t need a computer to satisfy ur education just get an iPad .

They are expensive for no reason and there level of complexity is like a grain of sand

I bought both when I started college and to be honest I use my iPad much more than my Macbook. It's very much convenient for STEM subjects as well as in college since it is easier to carry around in your bag. So, personally, I would say iPad.

definitely get an ipad!!! it will save you a lot of paper asp as some one doing stem (also did math, fm, phys, and rs) and its better in the spending money sense as macbooks are very very expensive and you get a good ipad (10th gen/ air 4) for much less

I was in the same situation once, and I’d definitely recommend going for an iPad. It’s super useful for past papers—you can do them anywhere without carrying around a ton of paper (and trust me, you’ll be doing loads). PLUS, you can buy a keyboard separately (a lot of people at my school did this, and I’d recommend it too), so you can easily use Google Sheets, Slides, etc., which you’ll definitely need for required practicals or presentations. For me, it felt no different from using a laptop, and I never had any issues. Overall, an iPad WITH a keyboard is just way more convenient for studying A-levels than a laptop.
