The pomodoro technique helped with my burnout as I just messed around for 5 minutes and didn’t do anything. Those 5 minutes really add up…

Hey Matt @WrexhamUniReps

I feel like this is a much needed thread for lots of us right now! 😅

Something I like to do when I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed with work is to do something creative. I actually do a design course so this could seem a bit contradictory as I'm not leaving the creative world behind completely for a break. But I like to do something different from my studies like coloring, collaging, or painting to just be creative for fun with no pressure.

It's also nice to get together with friends to do this too! 🙂

Looking forward to some more ideas!

Hi Matt,

This is a great idea as lots of people can struggle with burnout at university and this can be really hard. I thought I could add some of my tips which help me with burnout at uni:

Make a schedule at the start of the week. If you make this at the start of the week, you can write in everything that you have to do that week. This way you can spread out the things you need to do, and you don't end up doing it all on one day which isn't good for feeling burnt out.

Try to keep on top of things like reading as you go along. If you have reading to do after a lecture, try and find time that week to do it so it doesn't end up too much at once.

Put your phone outside your room/somewhere you can't get to to easily and try and spend 10/15 minutes at a time properly concentrating. Your work will go quicker this way and doing it small chunks is a good idea if you get burnt out easily.

I hope some of these help!
