Lancaster Physics Interview

Hi, I have an interview at Lancaster uni next week for theoretical physics and maths. I'm not really sure what its going to be about but I have been cramming a lot for it because I am aware of how difficult interview questions can be, can anyone give me an idea about the structure of the interview and how the questions are. I am not so worried about the day itself but more the interview aspect of it.

Hi @fleabagbabe

While I don't do physics, you can chat to current students who probably have more of an idea of the interview questions here Ask a Student - Lancaster University
Your day usually starts with a campus tour then interviews/ department tour follow as far as I know.

Good luck!

Hi my daughter had an interview for physics many moons ago. It was very chilled out and relaxed compared to Oxford interviews. The chap who interviewed her had a talk about her personal statement and the books she liked and that she liked the field of particle physics, so he asked a basic physics question and one based on the particle physics side of things. its good to swat up on the main topics as your doing that at this stage anyway for exams, bu also focus on your personal statement and read up about the things you mentioned that you liked as they could crop up. Us parents that were there all socialised together when they was having the interviews, and there was a talk for us on the uni, when it was founded and how the colleges came to be and the citys history which was interesting. She liked how it was an interview with questions, but the guy there made it feel like an enthusiastic conversation and not too formal. She joined Sept 2020, graduated in summer of 2024 and now is a phd student at Manchester,.
