Special support loan reimbursement

Hi.

During my undergraduate study it turned out I was eligible for the special support loan. Even though it was after the 9 month deadlines I sent in a cover letter with evidence and explaining that it was never explained or shown to me about the special support loan which is why it was never applied.

After I sent the above it I was then reimbursed for 2019/20 and 22/23

But student finance rejected reimbursing me for 2020/21 21/22. Which makes no sense and is inconsistent with the above reimbursement.

There reasoning was that I was not stated I was in need (eligible) on my application at the time even though my applications where all the same thought the years.

I have sent in an appeal letter but was this worth doing is there a possibility it can be changed into my favour (I know you can’t gaurentee) but is that something that can be done?

It just makes no sense why they reimbursed me for the first and last but not the middle years which makes no sense.

Hi Oliver,

If you've sent an appeal to that specific department this can take 20 working days as an estimated timescale to be reviewed. We can't access accounts on this platform, but the email would likely have advised why you were rejected for those specific years. However, if you want us to check this then do start a live chat with us - we're open till 7.pm on the live chat that's available in your account. Thanks, Jason

Hi. Yes I got the email that’s why I appealed it as the response is inconsistent due to the fact the other years was reimbursed. So the reasoning didn’t make sense.

My question was that as it’s been sent for appeal is there a chance it can be changed into my favour again I know you can’t formally guarantee but is there a chance it could?

Yes, the team will review this and determine if you are indeed eligible for it. Thanks, Jason
