CPR Application Process

Hi there,

When applying for a compelling personal reasons application for the third and final year of funding is there a portal or something that appears where I can upload multiple PDF's (doctors evidence) and cover letter? Or is there an email you send the evidence too?

Just wondering how the process works online when I do apply next month?

If anyone can answer I would be hugely grateful!

Hi Herryle,

You can upload evidence and forms by going to the 'Manage your student finance' section in the sidebar on the right of your screen. You will then see a link to 'Upload supporting evidence' and can use this to send us your evidence/form.

You can send the evidence now to us or wait until applications open to submit the information. If you send it now, once processed, you'll be advised if you've been awarded the additional year of funding.

Thanks, Jason

Hi there Jason,

How would I go about sending in the evidence now?

I went on my student finance account but there's nothing about managing your student finance.
Does this tab only appear once you've submitted an application?

Kind Regards.

You can upload evidence to any previous application using the 'upload evidence' section. Just ensure you state you are applying for Compelling Personal Reasons so the assessors review this accordingly

Hi there Jason,

Just to clarify I am applying for funding for the 2025/2026 academic year but I an upload evidence
to a previous years application and they will know its for CPR for 2025/2026?

Furthermore, how would they let me know its been approved? Through approving the funding for the incorrect year?

Just want to ensure I'm doing the right thing.

Hi there, if you state this on the cover letter (along with your evidence). "I am applying for CPR for the 25/26" academic year. Again, you can always wait till you apply to determine your eligibility. You'll then be notified via email once the evidence is processed. Thanks, Jason

Another quick question Jason.

When they've made a decision about my CPR application how will I know?

Will they send me an email?

Or do I need to wait until student finance for 2025/2026 actually opens?

Hi there,

We would send you an email to confirm that the Compelling Personal Reasons had been accepted.

Thanks, Drew

Hi I sent in my CPR evidence early for the 2025-2026 academic year.

I got an email back a few days ago requesting evidence of why I was unable to complete my studies. I already included detailed medical evidence so I'm really unsure why the email is asking again.

I'm unsure what to do or who to call to clarify this?

Hi HerryLe, what exactly does the email state? It may be possible that the evidence provided was not quite enough for the assessment team for to award the Compelling Personal Reasons. It may also be beneficial to contact us for to check the account and confirm the reason for the rejection. You can do this over the phone 0300 100 0607 or via live chat.
To access our live chat service from your online account, select undergraduate and then ‘contact us’. From here you will be able to use our live chat service when it is available. Our opening hours are stated on our ‘contact us’ page. Thanks, Stephen.

Hi there Stephen,

Thank you for your response.

To give you some context I completed two years at a university and gained a undergraduate diploma in my chosen field of study.

I have applied to join the third and final year of an undergraduate course at a different university so I can complete my degree.

I submitted medical evidence (a clear doctors note stating how depression and medication affected my ability to complete my degree during my last CPR finance year).

The response I got back was the following:

"Your student finance in academic year 2024/2025.

We need some more information to process your CPR application, you need to send us a signed
and dated letter confirming if any qualification was gained or details of why you were unable to complete you studies"

1.

My first question in relation to this response is the reason why they have considered this as a 2024/2025 application when the heading of my document stated it was for 2025/2026?

2.

My second question is why they are asking for details of why you were unable to complete your studies when the doctors letter explicitly explains why?

Hi HerryLe, the CPR evidence you have provided, was this uploaded through the 24/25 application? (this may be confusing the assessment team, although, if you have clearly stated that this is for the 25/26 academic year, then I would have not have expected them to reply in regards to the 24/25 academic year). With regards to the doctors letter, can you confirm the following: that the evidence is signed and dated. Confirms the reason why you could not continue with your studies and when this took place (date specific). Thank you, Stephen.

Hi there Stephen,

The evidence was actually uploaded via an old 2019 application.
The CPR evidence clearly says on the heading 2025/2026 and I also sent them an offer
letter for my new university for the third and final year to begin in September 2025.

The doctors letter is dated and signed, it confirms the specific reasons why I could not
continue with my studies and the doctor describes the specific time period where my time of study
was affected. I just would have thought if they had an issue with the evidence they could maybe
be a bit specific so I can actually know what's wrong?

The SFE contact number doesn't answer calls anymore it refers everyone to the online live chat.
I've tried calling 9 times.

The live chat doesn't exist when I log on to my student finance account and follow the
instructions so I'm a bit confused what I can practically do to solve this.
can do.

Hi HerryLe, thank you for confirming the CPR evidence criteria. As to why they have requested further evidence, we would really need access to your account for to check this. I am unsure why you are not able to see the live chat option in your online account, however I am aware that you can only see the webchat option if an adviser is available. However they are open until 6pm, so this option will be available.I appreciate that the lines may be busier than usual, due to the new application launch pending in March, but I can only really advise to persist with trying to contact us, as we need access to your account to be able to advise you further. Thanks, Stephen
