Oh. Well, there's no way you're doing as bad as me and ours is also due in about a month 😐️ I've done the first few pages and all the last pages but haven't done any of the research and stuff in the middle. Thankkssss, I was quite proud of myself with how much I remembered for English lit and how much I wrote down but I don't think I'm prepared for paper 2 😬 I'm just not very good at biology and chemistry so that's sort of the stuff I was asking for help on, maybe a bit of english if that's not too much to ask (I know you've got better things to be doing so don't worry 😅) How are you clueless when you're literally on an 8 for maths and 7s for sciences? Stop putting yourself down, you'll make me feel bad about my own grades 😭 Anyway, good luck with all your revision 👍️
Aww thank you!! Okay so for sciences every always says past papers and honestly I know if I did more I would for sure be scoring higher on my mocks. For content I would recommend either using the cgp text books are specification from your exam boards website and making mind maps and blurting them. Also using flashcards (either your's or other peoples on apps such as quizlet) to go over content quickly for when u don't have time (eg if your revising lots of paper 2 content but also need to do a little bit of paper 1). Cognito and seneca are also really great for content!! Hope this helps

Btw for english do u need help with lit or lang, I can give advice on both if you want ❤️

You're welcome! Thanks for the tips, I'll definitely be looking into those websites and things. How do you actually blurt stuff, I don't really get it? Also, I know you were saying that most people would recommend past papers, but do you think they're good for retaining knowledge or would you say flashcards and mind maps are better? I often use seneca for revision but I'll have a look at cognito. 👌

Honestly, I just need help in english in general if that's alright but mostly for lit paper 2 because we haven't anywhere near enough revision of it in lessons recently 😬 But help for both of them would be great thanks ❤️

For blurting I usually read through the piece of paper and then put it somewhere I can't see it. I use a whiteboard/piece of paper and write as much as I can remember, then in a different colour I add what I've forgotten. If I have time I repeat it multiple times over a few days before the exam 🙂

In terms of retaining knowledge I would say flashcards are better for memorisation and also consistently reviewing content but mind maps are best for actually understanding the topic as you can see how the information connects (I normally use the cgp text books and then do a mind map per page/sub, sub topic.
For past papers personally if you don't know the content that well then their not the best for retaining info. However, DON'T use this as an excuse not to do them!! Half of GCSE science is knowing how to answer the exam questions and the only way to do this is to practice doing them. You don't need to start doing full past papers right away but using websites such as physics and maths tutor or save my exams too access exam questions for specific topics and doing practice for these are really useful to practice exam technique. I'm honestly guilty for staying away from exam questions but please don't follow my example as they truly are so important. Maybe try doing exam practice consolidation for the sub topic you covered in your mind map so you reinforce what you've learnt.

Sorry for all the info and I hope this all makes sense. I'll give some advice on english soon I promise I just don't want to over whelm you with too much info in one post. Let me know if you want me to explain something better though if it get's confusing xx

Update 28/02/25

Hey guys, sorry I haven't updated in a while but I've been trying to reply to everyone as it's so fun to talk with people on here!! I've also felt so academically un-motivated but march starts tomorrow and I actually need to LOCK IN.

General updates ❤️

I had a Spanish speaking mock on Thursday and I got 51/60 🙂 I'm pleased with this but I messed up on some of my general conversation question because of the tenses so I really need to practice on these as speaking is what I'm relying on to bring my grade up

I have a ballet show in 3 weeks time so I now have a 3 hour rehearsal on Wednesday's and 4 hours on Sunday's (which is my main study day) WEEKLY until the show so it's going to be a very hectic few weeks

Going to see Gracie Abrams in the O2 next Thursday and I'm so excited 💛 I have mocks the next day though but I'm risking it because they honestly don't count for anything (all sixth form apps have been submitted already)

Already mentioned this but I have mocks next week and I'm scareddd. Sciences especially are terrifying me as they are currently my worst subjects and I really want to stay in triple but need to get my grades up as to not weigh down my average ☹️

Locking IN this weekend for my mocks and in general but trying to balance it out with volunteering, going to the gym and ballet. I really need to beat the tik tok addiction though if I want to keep my sleep schedule (I say schedule but it's already non - existent tbh)

Stayed home from school this Tuesday as I was sick but thankfully didn't miss too much content 🙂 🙂

Not sure if any else's teachers are doing this but all mine are setting SO MUCH home work it's getting impossible to revise and keep up

Sorry if this is very waffly I just really stressed at the moment and am trying to get my thought's in one place. Let me kniow if you guys want me to post anything specific 🤍

Oh right, that actually sounds really useful, thanks! I will definitely be using that today and tomorrow 🙂

Yeah, I thought flashcards might be better for last-minute revision. Mind maps are good as well but I think flashcards and constantly going back and quizzing myself works the best for my memory because I haven't got the best short-term memory 😒 Past papers are definitely useful for the actual exams but right now, doing past papers would just stress me out even more than I already am because they take quite a while 😥 (even worse when you're an awful procrastinator). When I have the time after these mocks, I will 100% do past papers (I may be lying 😬). I also used cognito yesterday and it was really good so thanks so much for that one as well 🧡

Don't worry, an information dump is kinda what I need right now 😂 Trust me, you're not overwhelming me, it's really helpful. I will let you know if anything is too much though, I reckon you probably know a whole lot more than me 😅

Update 01/03/2025
I did nearly 6 hours today which I'm really happy with!! This morning I did around 2 hours of homework which consisted of a history cold war 16 marker and maths sparx. I had volunteering but afterwards the rest of the afternoon I blurted B6 biology content for my mock on monday 🙂

Tomorrows plan:

1.5 hours maths revision from a booklet in the morning

Also blurting B5 in the morning (around 3 hour)

Ballet rehearsal 12:30 - 4:30

Probably will do some revision (either more biology or possibly english language essay structure practice) in my ballet rehersal as my character dies in the first few sences so I'm not in it too much apart from a few group dances as well 😔

Bio exam questions 6 - 8pm after ballet rehersal

I know it seems a lot but I really want to prove to myself I can get my science grades up. Good luck with mocks and revision everyone ❤️❤️

Hey guys! - Sorry that it's been a while since I've updated but it's been a long week ☹️ So basically, I dislocated my knee and tore a ligament on Wednesday evening when I was dancing so I had to go to a&e and didn't get home until around midnight. I didn't end up going to school on thurs and missed half of friday because of I had to get and MRI but that also resulted in me missing my physics, history and english lang mock.
I managed to come in for maths in the second half of friday and resit physics in the afternoon and they both wen't well!! (I don't want to jynx anything though). I had my chem mock yesterday which went okay? Today I'm sitting history which I missed on thursday and also maths (lowkey don't feel prepared for either)!! I'll let you guys know how everything goes 💗

Hey! Oh yikes, that sounds awful 😬 I think getting your leg scanned is probably a bit more important than your exams just in case you really hurt yourself. How did the scan go or do you not know? Hopefully you're alright and aren't too stressed about your exams then. I'm actually doing alright in my mocks atm and I managed to get a 6 in further maths which is quite impressive considering it was the only subject I didn't revise 😂. My science exams have been going pretty good as well, the mind map blurting stuff really helped my recall so thanks again 👍️

Ok you're literally me like this is uncanny... Good luck with your GCSEs! Hope you get your predicted grades and acheiving a 9 in German is amazing! I'm doing it on Duolingo + I have friends there but I'm nowhere near fluent. I know it's like 2 months later but get well soon haha
