Does Oxbridge accept 2 A levels and a BTEC?

Hi, I'm a year 12 student and am studying A level maths, A level computer science and BTEC Level 3 Engineering. If I'm predicted an A/A* in maths, A in computer science and a Distinction star in Engineering, will Oxford or Cambridge consider my application? What about other universities like Imperial, UCL or Warwick? I'm planning on studying either computer science or engineering at uni.

Pretty sure you need 3 a-levels for all then the esat for some of these uni's, but you'd have to look on the uni websites for a clear answer. If you can't find one, you can always email the admissions team to ask.

For Oxford, further maths is highly recommended

Hopefully engineering is an extended certificate or "better". You can see their stance here.

Imperial will likely not accept it. I'd encourage you to check the entry requirements for the others.

I know someone who got an interview for Oxford last year - they did 2 a levels and BTEC Music (ik its quite different but still a similar combo of qualifications)
In year 12, they also got into summer schools like UNIQ and the Cambridge Sutton Trust one !
ig it depends on the course ?

Cambridge does not usually accept BTECs (see https://www.undergraduate.study.cam.ac.uk/apply/before/accepted-qualifications). For both Computer Science and Engineering, Further Maths A-Level is very strongly encouraged and required at some colleges. If your school offers A-Level Further Maths, you would be expected to take it for Cambridge Computer Science (https://www.undergraduate.study.cam.ac.uk/courses/computer-science-ba-hons-meng).

I think that having neither Further Maths A-Level or a third A-Level would make your application quite uncompetitive.

The engineering btec I'm taking is worth 3 A levels so I don't get why they don't accept it. And my school didn't even offer A level engineering so I was forced to choose the btec

So you have a workload of 5 A'levels?
I'm seeing this more and more these days and am puzzled why people are doing it....
How come you're doing it (5 A'levels, that is)?

Cambridge clearly state that they'll only really accept BTECs for the foundation year. You can contact the admissions office to verify. Unfortunately, you might have o set your sights elsewhere. :frown:

The style of teaching and examination in Cambridge is much more similar to that of A-Levels and BTECs are viewed as not being sufficient preparation for their courses.

Further Maths would have been better.

Remember RG is irrelevant for Engineering and a degree with a year in industry is best prep for a career.
