University of Edinburgh

My friend just received an offer for sociology and politics which is fantastic. I applied for Spanish and politics and not yet heard. Is it the same department that reviews applications, progresses offers and gives rejections or are they two separate departments?
Does sociology get more applications than Spanish or vice versa?

Idk about the amount of applications but whatever school the degree falls under is the school that assess applications
