LNAT Score Results 2025

Okay, so for a little background, I am a USA international applicant, and I got a 19 on the LNAT. I was waiting for my LNAT score for the University of Glasgow, whose average this year is 21, though I got 2 marks off. I am still anxious about whether or not this is "satisfactory" enough for a confirmed place. I also have obtained the 3.6 GPA overall mentioned in my offer, but I am still nervous. Will Glasgow still take me?

I don't know if this dramatic of me....

Most unis just consider the LNAT as part of the assessment. I don't know for Glasgow specifically, but they will also consider things like GPA and personal statement/application essay, so its not out of the question. 🙂

They took someone with a score of 19 last year so there is precedent for someone getting into Glasgow with that score although that is the lowest score they accepted. They'll also look at the rest of your application so if your grades, personal statement, references etc are all very strong they could make up for it especially since you're international. Good luck!

Glasgow generally have a “low” cutoff score for the LNAT, one year it was 18. Considering this years average, it’ll probably be lower or around that. But even then, they don’t fully base their decision on the LNAT and will make offers even if the applicant has a lower than cutoff score; if other parts of their application are strong.

In short; your LNAT score is most likely satisfactory, don’t worry.

I applied on the Oxbridge early admissions deadline on 14th October and Glasgow is my first choice uni-

I sat my LNAT before this date, on the 8th October, and all unis requiring it received my result on the 21st October-

On this same day( 21st October), after Glasgow will have seen my LNAT result for the first time, I was made a conditional offer, with a condition to ‘obtain satisfactory LNAT score’, although they had already seen my LNAT score( it was 19) and decided to make the offer.

Given that in the previous 2 years, when they had an 18 cut off score, with the cohort averages being 23 and 22 respectively, do you think with the average cohort score dropping this year to 21, the cut off score should be the same( 18) or lower potentially, hence why they made an offer to me on the first day of seeing my full application once receiving my LNAT score-

As I would’ve thought if they weren’t sure about this score in any way, they would’ve waited until closer to or after the 31st January equal consideration deadline to decide, and wouldn’t have made an offer in the first day,

As I’ve heard from other students on here that they make a certain amount of offers before the 31st, based on who they know will be strong enough after the equal consideration deadline (31st Jan), based on their experience of doing it like this for years, but of course I’m not sure on whether that’s true or not,

For other context, I am an English student who applied with my achieved A level grades of AAA, as i sat them last summer, and took a gap year to get more experience and allow me to re-apply primarily for Glasgow common law, and have therefore already met the other part of my offer condition which was to upload evidence of achieved A level grades, ( at their entry requirements of AAA) which I have done-

Apologies for the long reply, I’ve just not seen many people besides yourself provide insight to this, and I’m in quite an awkward situation of hoping that my score of 19 will be strong enough given my other stats (strong personal statement+ references etc…) to receive an unconditional offer, as I’ve already achieved the grades,

So I’m wondering if you think given the averages being lower and their cut off being 18 on higher average years, do you think 19 is likely to be enough, as otherwise they wouldn’t have made an offer to me on the same day of seeing my result, and other early applicants results,

Would really appreciate any feedback, as I’m looking for some reassurance and driving myself insane hoping that my LNAT score is going to be ‘satisfactory’ (above the cutoff),

Thanks

Hi! Glasgow is one of the LNAT unis that generally don’t put too much weight on the LNAT, for starters. The average cohort is lower, I don’t see Glasgow bothering to raise their cutoff score.

But also, your score is a strong one! I think being online with other students you tend to get nervous seeing people with high 20s and 30s, and you forget that in reality about half of people got below 21. Glasgow will have lots of applicants with scores similar to yours, than any super high ones, and they’ll make plenty of offers to those people.

I think you’re in the clear, as you said, they’ve already seen your score and decided it was good enough for them, so don’t worry!

Hi! Thanks for getting back to me, that’s really helpful,

I certainly hope so- I’d hope if their and the cohort averages are both lower, it would at least stay the same at 18 meaning 19 would be okay🤞🏻

And thank you, I really appreciate that- was mixed for emotions when it came through on Monday, and as you say hearing people say they were embarrassed about getting 36 and not 40 didn’t help🤣

But ofc I just wanted enough for Glasgow, and you’re right about the amount of people below 21,

And yes I really hope so, I’ve not really seen anything about people having an offer taken away, but I’m hoping if the cut off was 18, this means 19 or anything above would be satisfactory,

and just hoping they get back to me soon as I really want to accept the offer, and obviously feeling more pressure because I took a year off for it too😭but I’d hope if they were ever thinking a cut off of 19 was likely they wouldn’t have made the offer, at least that soon-

Are you applying for this year too?

I’ve applied this year, received my offer in January and firmed it the other day - I’ve applied for Scots law but the entry requirements are the same for both degrees. Where else did you apply?

Does yours also have the ‘obtain satisfactory LNAT score’ requirement on the conditions, and well done on your offer,

I applied to Glasgow, Edinburgh, Cambridge, Durham and York,

but still not heard anything back from Edinburgh- I’m wondering if it’s almost only Scottish applicants they give offers to as it’s Scot’s law ofc, and I’ve not seen any English students with offers- have you also applied to Edinburgh with you being a Scottish applicant? And if so do you have any idea about their offers?

Sorry for the late response. Yeah, my offer says satisfactory LNAT score.

I received an unconditional to Edinburgh for Scots law on the 6th/7th of January. From what I know, only got that offer as I’m contextual. I hear Edinburgh has a tendency to accept more contextual Scottish students and not other Scots.

"Those with a plus flag are usually guaranteed a place on degree courses. The figures show more than 1,200 Scottish students applied to study law at Edinburgh in 2022. After the admissions process, 168 plus flag students were offered places as were two with a flag. No one without a flag was offered a place.” - (Plus flag and flags are contextual offers)

Edinburgh gives out around 460-ish offers for the LLB Law degree, so Scottish students aren’t a majority in either the course or the school.
"About 26% of Edinburgh's students are from Scotland"
I think you’ll hear back soon enough, though. Probably in March to be honest, I haven’t heard of many people getting into Edinburgh either.
