5000 Word EPQ Dissertation/Essay Piece to Write in 8-ish days. Need help. help. help.

Problem: Long story short -> 5000-word dissertation-type essay that needs to be completed in 8 or so days. I haven't done any prior research/resource gathering.

Situation: Almost finished intro. Currently researching while I write the essay. I have a basic structure/outline for my essay but it's still very rough. No prior primary research has been done. Writing the introduction took ages because I tried perfecting it before moving on to anything else.

I have a diabolical case of procrastination so I ignored this essay for months. Don't ask why I left it so late because that's why.

Any advice is appreciated because I'm kind of very super screwed so if you have any tips/advice to give, please send them my way.

I wrote majority of mine in two nights and researched as I went along as I found that easier to structure it better. But I did go back to it twice and edit quite a lot. Just make sure you keep track of all your sources on another document so it's easier to put the bibliography together at the end. But I will say, and not to toot my own horn, but I am kind of good at writing so that may have made it a lot easier, if you find writing harder definitely use these 8 days wisely and don't wait till the last few days. Good luck

Dedicate a day to gather and evaluate your sources, a couple to write the essay and the rest to proof read. Good luck 🙃

Divide 5,000 words by how many days remain until it’s due. That gives you X number of words.
To finish the paper, you need to produce X number daily. Assume about 250–300 words per page on a Size 12 Font to get the page-count for that number of words.
That’s pretty much it.

Hello,

I can appreciate how this may be stressful for you, i am guilty of this as well because of procrastination!

One option which i would probably advice is set aside an hour or two each day for the next 8 days, turn off all technology you don't need and just write for that duration and do not stop until you get it done. If you get in the flow of things, don't stop but keep going.

It is usually starting it which is the hard part but it's things like this which makes an EPQ such amazing preparation for university. Worst case scenario you may want to consider asking for a submission extension.

I hope this helps, if you have any more questions about anything at all please do let me know! I did an EPQ and loved it and even published my research so would be happy to help!
