UCAT prepration time

How long did you spend preparing for UCAT?
What are the best ways to prepare for UCAT?

i think 6 weeks before ur exam is plenty of time!
for the first week and a half i would do untimed practice of each subsection to get an understanding of what they're asking/to learn techniques!
for the next 2 and a half weeks i would do timed practice!
and the rest of the weeks i would do a mock a day, maybe leading up the exam, 2 mocks a day!

this is what worked for me!

I would say 6-8 weeks max - don’t start too early since you will get extremely burnt out and this will affect your final performance. If you want to do something now, I would suggest watching videos to familiarise yourself with the format of the exam and maybe note down some tips for each section. You can also think about making a timetable during this time. In terms of practice, start of with untimed practice to get used to the style of questions, then start timed practice and full mocks. It is really important to start full mocks sooner rather than too close to your exam - it may seem stressful at first and you may get a low score in your first full mock; but that is completely normal and you will improve. Also for practice, make sure you focus on your strengths (e.g maths skills) but also don’t completely neglect sections that you are bad at - try to do some targeted practice each day - so for example, on Monday you do VR, but specifically true/false questions since you struggle with those the most and so on.
Hope this helps!

Hi Rose.2612,

I am going to be applying for medicine after my degree (2 years time). Before any exam, I always do a good deal of exam papers & questions so that I am aware of the possible questions that can come up. Here is what I do to prep for the UCAT exam:

Exam papers, exam papers, exam papers.

What is really important to note about the UCAT exam is that it changes every single year, therefore, you will want to do the most recent UCAT practice papers as well as questions.

How long SHOULD you spend prepping for the UCAT exam?

Now, that tends to vary from person-to-person. For me personally, I tend to do things as early as possible so that I get used to the style of the exam. Some spend 6 months prepping, 6 weeks even (which is far too tight for time for me personally).

How do you prep for your exams? We could try & come up with a study method that best suits you if you like?

Kind regards,
