What are my chances of getting into KCL Law?

KCL is the only uni I applied to bc it has the best course for me! I applied as an international Student for English Law and German Law and got 34/42 on the lnat. What are my chances of getting accepted? My grades are probably exactly around the entry requirements. So what are you thinking, will I get in? Has anyone recieved an offer for this course? I would love to attend since it is literally my dream school! They did reach out to me and asked for my predicted grades which I could not give them due to the different school sytem in Germany. However I send them my most recent report and they said that it was okay and that they would still consider me. My application was last reviewed/ changed on Janauary 29th and I do not know whether that is a good or bad sign.
Thank you and sorry for rambling!

Thank you, fingers crossed. Does anyone know when they are likely sent out their offers/rejections? The wait is killing me

Hi there, hope you are well and the wait has not been too bad so far! 🙂 Back when I applied for the degree (2023 entry), people received their offers sometime in May. While this could be different this year, I would advise against interpreting too much into changes on the portal since it could very well be quite some time until you hear back. In regards to the LNAT, as far as I know only section one (the multiple choice component) is considered, and your score is very strong and far above KCL's average. This is published by programme and available online, just search for KCL's LNAT freedom of information requests. If your personal statement was sufficiently strong, I would assume they give you their conditional standard offer of achieving 1.3 in your Abitur. Hope this is helpful and good luck! Do let me know if you have any other questions and I'll try my best to help out.

tbh idk why they've not accepted you yet with 34 if you say you have good grades and if your PS is good. Don't want to give you false hope in case you get rejected but yeah

I am not too sure about my PS since I did not received any help with it and do not really know what is common for English unis but it should not be too bad - I wrote about my studies, law related extracurriculars , an internship I did and specifically mentioned KCL as my dream school ( and the reasons why) . As far as my grades go there are good and I should be able to meet the requirements if everything goes the way I hope. Thank you for answering 😊

Hi thank you so much for the insight! Are you currently studying the degree? I am so glad you replied since you are the first German ( I believe you are German, right?) who I have heard from about this specific Course! The wait is agonizing ngl but I must admit that I am unsure if if were the best for me to receive an offer before my Abi in April. I would probably put myself under a lot more pressure

Hi, no worries at all and yes, I'm German as well! Well, it can go either way I think - either the pressure gets to you and keeps you from performing your best, or it does the exact opposite and helps you do even better. But I do agree, maybe getting an offer after exams would be a more pleasant experience ahaha. Funny that you ask: I decided against taking up the degree in 2023 and decided to do a master's somewhere else instead. Since switching into law is still an option for me, I actually applied this year again just to keep as many options open for myself as I can (a bit of a confusing academic background, I know). Anyway, if you wanted to speak to someone who has done this dual degree, or indeed the UCL x Cologne one, I'd maybe check out the Anglo-German Law Society's website and contact one of the people listed on there - I'm sure they're more than happy to help.

Also, in an attempt to take away the pressure a tiny bit, do bear in mind that there's loads of exciting alternatives out there, so it does not all depend on you getting an offer/meeting the conditions of a potential offer from KCL. German law schools have become increasingly international and there's a range of similar options available. Just to name a few, the 'regular' European Law School at HU, as part of which you can do your Schwerpunkt or LLM at King's, or places such as Passau offering English LLB next to your STEX would be fantastic back-up options. Best of luck though and in case there's other questions you might have do feel free to let me know! :-)

Yes you are totally right about the other options - like you I have also applied elsewhere ( not for Uni but for a gap year in Spain) and am keeping my options open. I would gladly attend HU for example since it is supposed to be really nice and also bc the cost of attendance would be so much lower. However, living in London is a big dream of mine, so If I were to get in I would most likely attend KCL. But first I want to get over with my Abi so bad 😂. What are you currently studying?

That makes a lot of sense and looking back at my Abitur experience, I also found it pretty stressful and was very happy when it was over. In hindsight, I do kind of miss that time though. There was a certain beauty in that pain, and finishing high school is a very special time in one's life - though that is probably quite difficult to realise in the moment haha.

Regarding HU's law faculty: what makes it stand out is how internationally-oriented it is for a German law school and that you get to live in Berlin. Aside from that, the time spent there, whether as part of the dual degree or otherwise, pretty much resembles that elsewhere. Assuming you are interested in the Staatsexamen pathway, the faults and not so nice parts about that degree should also be carefully considered. But there is loads of information online helping you navigate that process of deciding whether you think that this is what you would like to do.

I'm currently finishing my master's degree in political science and have been contemplating to go into law for quite some time - when I was finishing high school, after my bachelor's and now again. While I was put off by the outdated structure of German legal education for quite some time, my academic interest in the subject (certain subfields of it to be precise) remains and I came to appreciate the practical side of law during my internships. Essentially, I am now at a point where I have to carefully reflect upon what I want my life to look like, and to what extent a German law degree is an essential component in it. Big decisions

Well I hope that everything works out for you! Sounds great 🙂 I am also very interested in politics/ political science and was thinking about pursuing it at uni but ultimately ended up deciding against it. Also I hope that you do not take that as an insult but may I say that you sound a little bit like AI? Only in the part where you talked about HU - you probably just did a lot of research and your answer was very helpful so Idc 😂
Good luck to you !

Hey hey! I am very happy to hear that, well deserved and no worries at all - the least I can do is put my experience with university admissions to good use... 🙂 I also got an offer and literally saw the email a couple of minutes ago - I am quite glad that it did not take them until May this time around. Very pleased that it's worked out for you and I'm sure you'll smash your exams!
