How to catch up while balancing content year 12

Im a year 12 student, and my grades one of recent grade is E in two subjects. I have to catch up with some old content cuz i didnt really learn it due to poor teachers- and it is my fault too.. because now its a little too late. I need to catch up a lot WHILE balancing new content. Idk how to do it, i need some help. Im a very slow learner btw so it takes me a lotttt of time to do one/two subtopics

Timetable definitely, draw it out or use excel and plot out all of your commitments on an hour or half an hour basis, then you can see how much time you have. Also use your lunchtimes if you need to because honestly doing it now will defo pay off in year 13. I’m in year 13 and it’s such a relief to have all of my revision for year 12 content made by the end of year 12 summer. What subjects do you do?

Do you think by the end of the semester i can get my grades high to an A, cause it seems a little bit unrealistic and unreachable? I need to be positive and keep on going with content.

I’m not sure! Definitely keeping motivated will help so much but I also think long term goals are so much more important than short term.
If you’re worried about predicted grades etc the best advice is just talk to your school. Show how you’re working to catch up and how you’re working to overcome your grades. Also as you have long term knowledge developed your grades will improve.
However, I find that learning exam technique really improves your grades. For my history for example I went into an exam not knowing anything for a question but if you know exam technique inside out it can rlly help you blag your way through gaps

Hi @flowerflower3

I completely understand it can be difficult to cram in a lot of content before your exams, therefore I recommend ensuring your revision is as efficient as possible.

I firstly recommend identifying your weaknesses and strengths, this way you can use your time more effectively. You could take past papers, question cards or more to find your strengths and weaknesses.

Next, find the right revision method for you. Not everyone learns the same and also the way you prefer to learn may change overtime. You need to maximise your recall and choosing the right method will help a lot.

Revision methods
I recommend researching a bit into these revision methods. You may choose one method that works the best or a combination. Here are some examples of revision methods based on learning styles:
Visual - Mind maps, diagrams, colour coding
Auditory - read aloud, audio books and discussions
Kinaesthetic - building models, taking notes and teaching others Personally, I love teaching others to revise.

A revision timetable will help a lot with organising your revision. Prioritise topics you struggle with the most. Make this fit around your studies and hobbies, its really important you still make time to socialise and have fun otherwise you will get burnt out. Personally, I used a timetable on a 2 week rotation. This would dictate what subject and module I'd study, alongside the revision method and the time dedicated for practice questions at the end.

I hope this helps, please feel free to ask me any questions,
