do self harm scars prevent me from being an airline pilot?

i want to become an airline/commercial pilot and i know that you need to pass medical exams in order to become one. i was wondering if self-harm scars will prevent you from passing these medical exams? i did some research and got some very mixed opinions so i'll be extremely thankful if someone has an answer to this!

I’ll be completely honest I have no idea, but, as someone who has self harmed and has scars, I’d be really shocked and upset if you couldn’t?

I mean, why should the fact you struggled with self harm in the past make you unfit for the job?

You might be referred for a psychological assessment, to see if you are a suicide risk. There have been a few instances of airline pilots taking crew and passengers with them when killing themselves by deliberate flight into terrain.

u have to pass a medical exam to become a pilot, and they take into account ur mental and physical well-being i think. im worried that they might think that someone who has self harmed in the past might be someone mentally unwell idk

You need to an enquire. As they would likely take in mental health, well being, your safety and the safety of others.
