Med related work experience/ volunteering/ workshop

Heyy,

I’m currently in year10 I’d like to pursue med in the future hence I’m looking for something that can boost my application and my skills. It’d be great if anyone can provide any sort of resource or advice ( ideally aiming for oxbridge )

Thank you!

hey there
im on the same page as u with the oxbridge goal in mind. Currently I am in yr 11 and for my work experience I went to a pharmacy for a week. I am planning to do it again in yr 12 and I'm planning to volunteer at an elderly care home in my local area. This gives you some help in medicine interviews as it shows that you have already dealt with and worked with people who have difficulties i.e remembering etc. Personally, try to find some medicine related such as a hospital but that would be unlikely unless you know someone working there who could take you in as a 'shadow' learner or just go with the pharmacy. You need to appeal to the pharmacist by having high grades as well. For example I'm predicted 9 9s and 2 8s across all my subjects recently so the pharmacies are more likely to take you in.
Good Luck!

Hello. Thank you for the encouragement but you don’t need the high grades to appeal for pharmacist. Maybe in your posh locations generally no. All you need is to fit the requirements even in medicine you just need to fit the requirement and they do contextualise u but it’s always better getting the high grades. I am saying this cuz I did my med application already!!
