Returning to study (SFE Funding question)

Hi all,

I previously started studying for a BSc in Physical Education in 2018, but only completed two years and then decided to take a gap year due to personal reasons, therefore not studying for my third and final year. I did let Student Finance know before September but they still released a payment, which I returned. This is not my fault as far as I’m aware as I did contact them prior to any payments being released.

I am now ready to return to my studies but I want to study a different 3 year undergraduate course, starting from year one at the same university. How much student finance funding am I eligible for? Thank you.

Hi Tily, what is the name of the university you are thinking of applying to? Can you please confirm the exact course title? Is this a Full Time or Part Time course? How many years is the course in total? When are you planning to start your studies? Thank you, Stephen.

University of Gloucestershire. This will be a Full Time 3 year undergraduate course, starting in September, and it will be Business related.

Hi Tily, as you already have recieved 2 years of previous study support, this would have an impact on your remaining entitlement from restarting a new course.

If you will be studying at an equivalent level that you have already gained, then this can block some or all of the support until this level has been passed.

Based on the information you have provided, your estimated support remaining under the normal criteria would be as follows:

New course (in years): 3 years
Additional Year (for resits if required):1 year
Previous Years Studied: 2 years
Remaining entitlement: 2 years

So 3+1-2=2 years remaining entitlement for to study.

It would be beneficial to provide us with as much information as possible so we can check this for you. Thanks, Stephen
