Driving test today

I have my driving test today and I am rattled up with anxiety. I have tried doing mindfulness but can’t stop shaking, mostly because of the cold and of course my fears. I also haven’t told any of my family that it’s my test day and brushed it off as a lesson instead, in case they were wondering where I’ve gone for 2 hours. My test is at 10:04am, and I just need some encouragement and positive thoughts that everything will be okay please and thank you.

Good luck!

I was told (this is not medical advice or anything) that putting the left hand over the left eye and looking up relieves anxiety.

Obviously not while driving! 😀

When I passed, my focus was what I love and stand for. This kept me in the moment.

Just remember, you rock! Roll out and get this done 🙂 And if you don't pass the first time, meh, there is always next time!

Oh, and go to the loo first and take a glug of water to keep hydrated.

Let us know how it went.

Why did u fail

I was driving too slow on a country road, the national speed limit was 60 and I was going 30-36mph.

Don’t know the exact amount, but I’ve done more than 20 lessons for sure. I’ve learnt before in a manual car, with 2 different instructors. One in 2019-20, and one in 2022-23, not sure how much I spent practicing with the instructor in 19/20 but I know I spent £1,502 with the one in 22/23. Now, that I drive in auto, I have done 31 lessons thus far and spent £1,144 in total for lessons + £95 for using the car in a test which sums to £1,239.

Idk if my math is mathing but that is 1239 + 1502=2,741💀💀 💀crazy for a driving .
So I would say like 65 pound for 2 hours u am guessing for u.
Ur lucky ur car is worth 95 but mine is 120.
Why did u even take auto u should of just stick to manual so u would save time and money plus get manual u get auto.

yep, learning to drive is really expensive. Well I’ve done my 10 hour blocks for discounted prices (x2) with my current instructor & the pay as you go leading to the exam which costed £1,144. My previous instructor, strangely didn’t do 10 hour blocks, and just did pay as you go. So every lesson with him was between £32-£35 every week till July 2022-Dec 2023, I don’t know how I did it, but it was costly, plus going on holiday in between those times. Now, looking back, it was honestly a waste of money learning to drive manual.

Wow. Yours is a lot to use on the test. How much have you been paying for your lessons? - plus, I struggled to drive in manual, couldn’t keep up with the gear change and clutch. All my lessons with the instructor’s were 1 hour each. So for the block of 10 I did with my current instructor it costed £35 x 10, plus another 10 hours, which was £700, then I did 12 pay as you go lessons before my test which costed £37.

@logic1 I’m just going todo 5 or 10 more lessons before my next test date. Hopefully his prices won’t go up by then :/

Bro forget about that. U telling me that 120 pound is a lot💀💀💀 have u seen ur total. I haven’t booked it yet maybe march but Wdym so much money. Ur wasting too much money on lessons. I have had under 20 lessons like 18 or 17 ish on manual I may go in wrong lanes in the big round about u know the ones with 60 mph road but everything else is calm. Trust it’s easy when u focus in manual but I think it’s u over complicating things.

basically I pay 60 pounds for 2hrs and I recommend u do 60hrs a day for like 2 days a week at least that is what I am doing. I almost made a deal for 50 but I don’t wanna ruin my reputation. By that I mean my dad knows friends it’s like a friends thing but we hide it from the driving schools and the head of it cause we r suppose to pay 35 for an hour so 70 for it. So like 1,080 total money I payed with the 120 extra and I still feel sad that I used this amount of money forget about failing and passing idrc.

That is my background but honestly ur over complicating it especially automatic cars💀. Ur lucky my parents force me drive manual but honesty my parents r forcing me hard stuff in life even when I could do easy stuff,

Thanks for your comment! Unfortunately, I failed 😭

Always remember that failure is part of the learning process. Now you have tasted what it is like, you can be prepared!

I was failed for clipping a pothole in a rain storm, they said I hit the kerb! (this was years ago btw). So, I re-booked and promptly failed again! My awesomeness must have been blinding as they reckon I was speeding in a 30 zone, I say not!

The third time I was sure I messed up, however, I got a pass and now I drive about and have an excellent no-claims discount 😀

I suspect you were too awesome, next time advise the instructor to wear sunglasses 😉

Hope the next test goes smoothly!
