Hi there,
It will depend on your son's individual circumstances, but there are a few steps to recommend.
Speak to an Academic
If your son has an assigned advisor, they would be the best to speak to. If not, then a course leader or lead lecturer will also be able to help. It is a chance to discuss his thoughts on changing courses and what support they would be able to provide. Academics are usually more than happy to help, or signpost to useful resources!
Reach out to Admissions
Email the admissions team of the university your son wishes to study medicine at. They should be able to provide more information and support relevant to his situation - including course availability, eligibility and more. We have passed the UCAS equal consideration deadline which could complicate the situation, but if the postgraduate route is more suitable then this should be less of an issue.
Understand any impact to student loans or funding
It is best to speak with the Finance team at your son's current university and to also reach out to Student Finance to discuss any possible implications to his finance and funding, and what information would need to be provided.
Making his current university aware of his desire to switch and contacting the university he wishes to transfer to as early as possible will make the process smoother and less stressful.
Hope this helps, and the best of luck to you and your son! 😊
Thanks,
C
