UCL Slade interview?

Hi guys, I'm applying to Slade's BA Fine Art program. Since I submitted my portfolio in Feb, I am wondering how long it takes to receive an interview invitation? Also if you are planning to major in fine art, feel free to chat.☺️

Hello !! I'm also applying to Slade's BA program this year. Their interviews take place from the 17th-28th of march so i assume if we don't hear back before the 10th of march we were rejected. I was going through another discussion from last year's group and a few on them said they got an interview invitation around the 28th of February ?? It's honestly my 1st choice but if i get accepted into the UAL foundation I can just reapply next year if I get rejected so I'm not super anxious about it but definitely hoping for the best

Hi there! Thank you for your reply, it is really helpful!❤️ Slade is also my first choice right now! However, if I don’t get in, I’ll consider whether to go to Chelsea or Goldsmiths. UAL’s reputation is kind of controversial lately, so I’m not sure where to go. Anyway, I wish us both good luck! 🍀

I also signed up for UAL Chelsea but it honestly isn't my main choice, purely because I enjoy attending larger places for education instead 😭 yea UAL has a questionable reputation and Slade feels quite secretive honestly, I feel like compared to other unis in London their students don't present their opinions about it online as much, I've literally deep searched and found max 3 people who go there. I equally wish us both luck in getting accepted 🍀

Exactly! Slade is more secretive compared to other art unis.😂 The idea of taking additional courses at UCL in the second year sounds fascinating, and I think that’s part of why I want to go there.🤔 UAL is good but all we can meet is art students, Since Slade is part of UCL, maybe it will be a bit more inclusive in a certain way? I’ll staring at my Outlook waiting for updates...

Yea Slade is my first choice purely because we can take an additional course and the fact it's a multidisciplinary uni 😭😭 I honestly think I like meeting people who do other subjects instead of just creative ones so would prefer somewhere like Slade or goldsmiths more. I didn't sign up to goldsmiths because they require an art foundation year, which I don't have but have signed up for this year. Hoping Slade or foundation accept me so bad honestly

ME TOO!😃 Honestly, many of my friends are majoring in non art related subjects, that's why I assume I would adapt more easily to universities like UCL. Yeah Goldsmiths required a foundation year, which I do not have, but I still applied, and they adjusted my application to the BA Fine Art (Extension). The interviewers were nice, and I believe it is a brilliant place to study.

That's amazing, it's great to know others are applying to the same places as me. I was honestly so clueless while making my portfolio as there's a lack of examples online but I hope we both get in. I'm quiet scared I won't get an interview email this week or the next as that pretty much settles a rejection. I just have Slade and UAL foundation to get back to me, the rest have either given me an interview or an offer lmao

No worries, I'm sure you'll be fine. And it's good to know you already have some interviews/offers. 28th is getting closer!!!! Wish us both gooooood luck!

Does this mean goldsmith had announced the interviews?

Was it fine art? I don’t understand how that’s possible when ucas deadline was 29th January?

Reply 12

Yes it is. Probably because I submitted my application on ucas in mid-october.

I’m literally so scared I got rejected because it’s the 28th February and I still haven’t heard back.. has anyone else got offers yet?

They would only be sending invitations for interviews at this point I think. From what I gathered they do two sets of interviews, one in early/mid March and one in late March, and it seems like most people get their invites about a week in advance. So if you haven’t been formally rejected you’re still in the mix

I think we still have the whole first week of march before we start getting hopeless, I have heard the interviews are week commencing 17th , given they provide one week to prepare for the interviews, we still have the next week before things get scary
