University Waitlist

Hi,
i was offered a waitlist spot for from Bournemouth and was just wondering if there is any chance of hearing back from them soon and whether i would potentially be offered an interview. Bournemouth was and might still be my top choice but i have received an offer from my second choice and i don’t know if i should accept it.

should i call them and ask them???

thank youu

Waitlist for what ? clearing ?

Use your leverage. Phone (not email, sms, chat or other nonsense), pick up the phone and speak to the people who can understand that if they want you, they have to offer you a place today.

If not, then tell them your tuition fees are likely to go somewhere else.

Never forget, all this education is still just a business, bums on seats, bills to pay, etc.

it’s a waitlist for interviews, i’m applying for a paramedic science program and as part of the selection process they make every candidate do an interview

Hello eva_m7, thank you for contacting BU. Unfortunately we cannot say when a place might become available through a waiting list, but if a place does become available then the admissions team will contact you straight away and talk about the next steps. I am sorry we can't provide more information, but if you do have any other questions or would like to talk to one of our advisors you can reply to our message here, send us a private message or call us: +44 (0) 1202 961 916.

hi there, this sounds just like me last year! bournemouth was my top choice and also the only uni out of 5 which waitlisted me. come results day, i was the first to call for clearing after declining my offers at other unis for the course as my heart was set on bournemouth (i grew up here haha). i never got offered a place from either waitlist so cut my losses and reapplied this year with some SJA experience and was interviewed in November and got my place! just wanted to say not to worry and panic as what will be will be, and that theres no harm in taking a surprise gap year if you have your heart set on BU - im actually glad i got to have a year out of education. theres only 35 places max on the course so a really tricky one to get a place on. if you have any interviews anywhere else, focus on those (if you havent had any yet, all my interviewers were lovely everywhere and i came out wondering why i stressed so much!) good luck, and try not to stress too much!

what course is this? i’ve applied for paramedic science and i put surrey down just on a whim because i really didn’t think i would get in since its number 1 and sooo competitive. i ended up getting an offer and i wouldn’t mind going there at all. i loved their facilities but i just felt a certain type of way at BU. i have no idea what to do bc until they get back to me i cant firm an option and if i do get the opportunity to interview for BU and get in i might put that down. i just hate this waiting game. thank you tho 🩷

hey girl, sorry this was for paramedic science too! firstly any offer is absolutely amazing with how competitive paramedic science is, so well done! it's such an achievement and you should be so proud. however my advice would be to not just accept and offer and go to a uni you're not genuinely 100% happy with going. it's a lot of debt to get into when you're not fully loving the city and the uni, and you only get your first uni experience once. I accepted Portsmouth as my firm and had a freakout a week or so before about my decision and declined it about 10 minutes after finding out on results day that I'd got in. I'd say wait until closer to the decision deadline before worrying, but there's no harm in firming the offer then. if you later decide it's not for you, you can turn it down, and if you decide you do want to go you're all set! try not to stress, I know it's easier said than done but it'll all work out how it's supposed to. hope this helps x

Hi there,

Thank you for reaching out, and I completely understand how challenging this waiting game can be. It's tough when you’re trying to figure out what feels right for your future.

In regards to your waitlist spot at Bournemouth University, while we can’t provide specific information about whether you will be offered an interview or a place, we recommend following your heart when it comes to making a decision. If Bournemouth is still your top choice, it’s worth considering how you feel about the university and the course, as that will ultimately make the experience more fulfilling.

It might also be a good idea to revisit the universities during their upcoming open days if you can. It can give you a chance to see how you feel now that you’ve had more time to think about it. Sometimes returning to campus can give you a better sense of the environment and whether it still feels like the right fit for you. Trusting your instincts is key, and open days are a great opportunity to reassess your options before making a final decision.

In the event that you don’t receive an offer, remember that there are still opportunities to join the course or others through Clearing, so it’s not the end of the road. Keep an open mind, and don’t hesitate to reach out to our admissions team if you have any other questions or need further guidance.

Good luck, and we’re here if you need anything!

Best regards,
Chloe

If you are waiting for the interview, you can wait for their message. However, if you've finished your interview and are waiting for the final result, you can directly ask them to know their decision.
