SOAS foundation year? helpppp

Hi everyone,

I recently applied to SOAS but unfortunately, my LNAT score was a bit too low for direct entry. They still offered me a place, but it came with the condition of taking a foundation year first. I had to take the LNAT because I do two A-levels and one btec.

I’m wondering if anyone has been in a similar position, or knows if it’s worth applying through Clearing and whether there’s a chance to get in without the foundation year, especially if I do extremely well with my results. If not, I don't mind taking the foundation year then moving onto the LLB but I get worried that its another year that I have to pay for in uni fees.

Hi there,

I hope you are well.

Unfortunately, the LNAT grade requirement is not lowered in Clearing so if you were to apply with the same score, the outcome would be the same.

I would recommend going ahead with the Foundation Year if you were offered the BSc Business, Management, Economics & Law with Foundation Year then you will have the advantage of studying the basics of law before starting your LLB course.

I hope this helps 🙂

Hey man, I’m going to be doing the exact same route this year! I think the fees for the foundation are like 3k less but that doesn’t help much… i was in a similar position and i get full student loan/maintenance and i need to take it out to acc survive lol - at the end of the day, you shouldn’t see it too much as a burden, it is and ofc it will be, but it’s more of a graduate tax and if you work hard get the first and go into do well, you will be able to pay it off soon (and if you don’t do wel, chances are, you won’t have to worry abt it anyway)
