German and history joint honours
Which are the best universities to do this combination? What are the job prospects etc?

Oxford and Cambridge. You could seek any career that does not require STEM skills. The Foreign Office or British Council might be an obvious choice.

There are so many combinations that you can study for your degree, it is great to see that you are researching. Have you considered the University of Essex? 🎓️
You could study BA Global Studies and Language Studies with us, which is a combination of history, languages (alongside German you could study French, Portuguese, Spanish or Italian), sociology, philosophy and politics. This would include access to historical special collections in the library, the largest collection of Latin American art in Europe (ESCALA), translation and interpreting facilities, all whilst studying in Britain's first city - Colchester. In addition to your degree, you would have the option to study another language for free with Languages For All offering Arabic, British Sign Language, Mandarin Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Russian or others. 🕰️🗺️💬
Graduates could go into careers in media, education, politics, the Civil Service, international organisations such as the UN and NATO or non-governmental organisations, and many other fields - with the fluency in another language boosting employability. 86% of our graduates are in employment or further study (Graduate Outcomes 2024). 💼⚖️
The University of Essex is just outside of Colchester, less than one hour away from London on the train (with three stations near to campus). Our Students' Union is amazing (top 10 in the UK), with over 165 societies to join, a library (open 24/7), gym and sports centre (free if you live on campus), cinema, two bars and a nightclub on campus. Students are supported by the Student Wellbeing and Inclusivity Service and we are now ranked 29th in the British Universities and Colleges Sport table. 🌟
