Money bounced back

Hi my student finance money got bounced back due to limit how much I can receive at once it got bounced back on 10th Feb and bank has confirmed it was returned to sender on 17th February it has now been over 48 hours and student finance still yet to receive the money back. What should I do I’m confused.

From the date it was sent back to student finance how long does it take for them to process and update online as failed I was told it normally takes 24 hours but it’s been 48 hours now.

Hi Ahmedhamza96,

From the date we receive the returned payment, it’ll take up to 3 working days to reach your account. If 3 working days has surpassed, then it would be best to call to chase this up.

Problem is my bank has claimed that my student maintenance was bounced back on day the payment was made into my account and money has been sent back to sender it’s been 10 days and student finance claiming they have not received the money where as my bank have confirmed that on are system the payment has automatically been sent back to student finance. What should I do now. It’s stressing me out.

When you login what's the status of the payment now?

Is it showing as 'failed' or still 'paid'?

It’s been a month now and online it shows as paid I have now requested for payment trace as my bank has confirmed that money has been returned. And sfe seems not have received the money it’s really stressful.

Hi Ahmed, we can't access accounts on this platform. If you've requested a payment trace then this can take 30 working days to process from when it's done. All I can advise in the meantime is to monitor your account for an update from us. Thanks, Jason

Am sure once they do payment trace they can see where the money is and pay me right

A payment trace is to locate and request the funds back, so if this is successfully received back, the payment can be issued to you.

What happens if funds are not received which is not possible as the bank has confirmed to me in letter money had been returned.

So if you do not receive the money back will I have to take the issue up with the bank and get that money back
