Commuting to Kingston!

While I don't personally commute to uni in Kingston, a lot of students on my course do and it definitely is achievable! Whether you’re commuting from nearby or you have a little trek, commuting into uni can seem super stressful but once you know your route it’s a lot easier. In this blog I thought I’d compile a couple of tips to help make your commute that little bit easier!

Have a trial run-
No matter what mode of transport you are using to get to uni, one thing I find always helps is knowing my route! If the commute is a new one to you, I would always recommend having a trial run to help ease any commuting anxieties on the first day of term! Removing time pressures can help you to learn the route without the extra stress. It’s also a bonus if you can take some friends with you to make the trip to feel less pressure together.

Keep note of dates-
Now this is more likely to apply if you travel by tube or train, but keeping note of important dates is so so important. Whether it’s a road closure or a strike, a lot of things are out of your control as a commuting student. However, knowing when these things might be coming up can save you so much stress as you can make alternative arrangements or give yourself a lounger journey to make sure you’re on time!

Try your best to be prepped-
It may seem small and silly, but making sure you’re prepped with essentials can make the journey so much easier! Whether you like to read, listen to music or catch up on podcasts small things like making sure you have something to do on your journey can really help. Preventing you from being bored and helping to relieve stress is a massive saviour! So making an essentials kit is something I’d definitely recommend!

If you’ve commuted in the past, do you have any tips that you can comment!

@Kingston Yasmin, I personally love listening to music , especially when I'm walking to uni. It makes the journey easier and fun.
Doing something like listening to music, podcasts or reading will definitely make the route shorter and less boring.
