Hi!

What exam board do you do? I take Geography and in paper one alone, I think there are about 3 different 8 markers and they mostly require a case study. Using a case study gets you those 7 and 8 marks! My teacher did say that we might get a paper and not use a case study at all. There are some four markers in my exam board where they require a case study so it depends.

Hope it somewhat helped!

No worries!

Sure. Firstly, it is important to look at the command word. What is the question asking? If it is 'evaluate' (which is common), you are supposed to come up with arguments for and against the argument. It is also important to use keyword such as 'effective' and 'significant'. I used to write LOADS (I'm a certified waffler) and I still somewhat do but now I cut it down a lot since I won't to be granted that much time in the exam and besides, my English teacher tells me 'less is more'. Try to write three paragraphs, one for arguments for, one for arguments against and a conclusion. To gain extra marks though, you should include some Statistics such as the death toll for a natural disaster for example if that is what the question is asking.

Hope it helps!

hiya, i do igcse edexcel as well and this has been a question ive thought about too. apparently, your supposed to use your case study in your 8 mark answer for the 'evidence'. and obviously what you said, it may sometimes ask 'for a named developing or emerging country...' x
