How does college allocation work if I've applied for two courses at Durham?

I've applied for history and politics, and just politics for durham and I've been asked to rank the colleges twice, will they assign me one for each offer? I've firmed combined and insuranced just politics, If I get allocated like chads or castle for politics do you think they'd let me have that anyway for combined if I get the higher grades?
Thanks x

Hiya,

You only get allocated one college regardless of whether you're doing combined or single honors 🙂

I applied late October I think, I got my politics and history offer early November and my politics offer early December. My Predicteds were A*AA with A EPQ.

Hi, Is this the same if you have two separate offers, one for a combined honour, and another for a single offer?
Maybe I just misread your wording, but I'm confused why they'd ask me to do two sets of rankings for each offer if its the same regardless x

Hiya,

I'm not sure why you were asked to rank it separately but all students regardless of their course/course level are allocated one college when they come to Durham. It could have been a mistake but I can't say for sure, but what I can say is you will only be allocated one college. You could reach out to the college and allocation team to inquire about that, they're more likely to know why you were asked to rank your colleges for two separate offers 🙂

Hope this helps!

also got two offers here but only received one allocation - for castle. hopeful it applies to both offers but i did actually rank castle second for one of my offers because i was intrigued to see what would happen. have emailed to check

received email reply - i got told that i had been allocated castle for both course “in this case”, suggesting that it’s possible to be allocated two colleges for two courses!

I got 2 colleges for 2 courses! You would think you would just get 1 college as hopefully you will be there irrelevant! The reply said 1 college allocated to 1 course and 1 college to another

I’m guessing the reason they may allocate two is because I believe they aim to keep a balance of subjects in colleges so where there is space to maintain that balance may vary between colleges
