hey im really confused because i wanna be a sonographer in the uk but i don’t jnwo what i should do for my a levels im order to be it and how to become one does anyone know how😭and also is there like certain grades i need to become it

The traditional route to become a sonographer is to take an undergraduate degree in nursing, midwifery, diagnostic radiography or therapeutic radiography and then to work in that field to gain experience before applying for a sonographer role. You will face a lot of competition for any vacancies.

Make sure that your A levels include a science subject. Entry requirements vary by course and uni so have a look at some course pages on uni websites. Use the following search tool:

omg tysm is there a specific science i need and also do i have to gain experience by working in anotehr friend im order to become a sonographer?

Take the science that you enjoy the most and will do well in - bio, chem or physics.

Many employers will require HCPC registration before you can work for them, hence the need for a degree in radiography or similar. It is very unlikely that you would be able to get a job as a sonographer as a new DR graduate due to the competition from other experienced staff.

Leeds Uni introduced an undergraduate medical ultrasound degree last year but the course is not eligible for HCPC registration so it might limit your appeal to employers:

i’ve been searching everwhere but are there even sonography jobs in the uk ? because it says in mist cities there isnt
