Tariff points BTEC Extended Diploma in Art and Design Level 3

What would I need to achieve in order to get 96 points on my BTEC Extended Diploma in Art and Design Level 3? Is it particularly difficult to achieve this?

Your can use the UCAS Tariff Calculator to answer questions like this. It shows that for a Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma, MMM will get you the required 96 points:

As for your "Is it particularly difficult to achieve this?" question, that's a little subjective. I we look at BTEC Nationals (2016 - RQF) Results for academic year 2023/24, then we see on page 27 a breakdown of what percentage of Extended Diplomas were at each grade for each of the last two years.

We can see from this that about 69.5% are at or above MMM. So more than two thirds of students will achieve the grade you need, or above.

Actually, further to the above, I've just noticed that the same PDF also shows a breakdown for Art and Design specifically.

BTEC Nationals Extended Diploma - Grade Statistics - 2024 - by Subject.JPG

This shows a very similar overall percentage of Art and Design students achieving MMM or above last year (about 70.5%).

Oddly, there's quite a stark gender split:
75% of females achieved MMM or above.
66% of males achieved MMM or above.

Thank you for your reply . My tutor wrote the points for BTEC points not UCAS points she said down on paper. She wrote that I have 18 points from the merit last year an MMM is 50-58. I need 96 points this year to get into Falmouth University. I am not sure if this would be UCAS or BTEC for 96 points.

The 96 points which Falmouth need are UCAS points. For your Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma in Art and Design Practice you need a final grade of MMM to achieve those UCAS points.

In your particular course that means you need at least 50 BTEC points across the two years. You have 18 points from last year, so you need an additional 32 points from this year to reach that 50 BTEC points total.

Thank you so much. This makes sense.
