Oxford Uni Maths 2026 from Scotland

Hi all,
I want to apply for Mathematics at University of Oxford. I am currently in S5 doing Highers in Maths, English, Physics, Chemistry, Computing - predicted AAAAA. I have a couple of questions; answers to any would really be appreciated:

What advanced highers should I look to take?

Should I take 3 or 4 advanced highers?

Does the application process differ between Oxbridge and Scottish Universities?

What supercurriculars/extracurriculars should I be doing?

How can I effectively prepare for the MAT (if I have to do it)?

Should I take any additional courses outside of school?

I would be grateful for any answers.

Sorry for brief reply:
1) take as many maths related AHs as possible. I took mechanics, physics and AH maths (plus two others - chemistry and music - split over S5/S6 but I was a post Covid year so course work wasn’t running).
2) you will find MAT prep hard as the Scottish curriculum does not align with A levels which is what the MAT is based on. Either get a tutor or self teach areas which are missing.
3) Be realistic. I achieved all A1s all the way throughout school and didn’t receive an offer (although this was for Comp Sci).

Good luck!

I'll leave the other questions to more knowledgeable people, but the entry requirements (standard) for Oxford Maths is AA/AAB in Advanced Highers. They don't specify what subjects apart from Maths (obviously) I would recommend maths-based AHs - physics, mechanics, etc. To maximise your chances of getting in, stick to 2/3 AHs and do a lot of other maths related supercurriculars, do well on the entry test, etc.
Good luck!
