Apprenticeships after A Level??

Hi, so I'm thinking of maybe finding an apprenticeship to do after a levels and maybe not uni? Cause I'm not a very academic student, my grades are alright but I just hate going into school everyday and I know that there's so much more work to do at uni aswell and I like to learn things more practically like on the job. I'm in year 11 and didn't realise that some apprenticeships can be done after GCSE not just A level so it's too late to apply right now if I don't want to do a levels and just do an apprenticeship instead but anyway,

I've been researching lots of apprenticeships the past couple months and I know that lots of apprenticeships come at levels 1 to 7 right? So what level do people usually do after A Level, is there a specific one depending on what you've done so far cause some are equivalent to A Level or gcse but what level do most people who do apprenticeships after a levels do?

Sorry I literally waffled there

Once you have completed your GCSE’s and are 16 years old, you can typically be eligible for either a level 2 (GCSE equivalent) or a level 3 (A level equivalent) apprenticeship. Levels 4/5/6/7 are only available for those with at least a level 3 qualification (eg a levels).

The government website has an excellent tool for searching for apprenticeships:

https://www.gov.uk/apply-apprenticeship

I would recommend applying to as many positions as possible, as apprenticeshipa are becoming increasinly competitive as more people become aware of them.

Hope this helped a little ☺️

So first of all not all the ones for post gcse will be closed yet, most will but some might be open still so if you still wanted to apply then you might be able to find some but you would have to apply quick. The ones that are equivalent to A Level are usually called Level 3 where you would get a qualification that is equivalent to 3 A Levels.

Post A Level people usually go for degree apprenticeships (Level 6) so this means that you will be studying towards a degree at uni alongside and will come out with a uni degree at the end.

Hope that helps, what sector do you think you will apply for?

Thank you! I was thinking of the NATS air traffic control apprenticeship but I have been seeing a lot of other apprenticeships and we've had lots of talks at school so I'm not entirely sure in anything specific yet

you can apply to more than one btw and they don't all have to be in the same subject area (just might mean you have to alter your applications more if you choose a wider range of areas). Good luck in your applications
