Maintenance loan question

Hello someone

I’m just curious and want to ask a question. So my sfe application was rejected but after numerous of months waiting I decided to appeal PS( i haven’t heard anything from them). And went to my uni’s student service . I told them my sfe application was rejected even though I am a home student but I was given about 1554 maintenance for the year . So my uni spoke to sfe and told them I was enstranged from my parents which I had evidence and all but because I was in contact with my mother I was not accepted to be enstranged so my best option was to apply for independent status if I had the necessary evidence.*Bare in mind my indefinite leave to remain got approved in the first week of January. *Fast forward i provided the evidence for independent status and I was granted 🤪😍glory be to God i have been awarded my tuition yaaay and maintenance loan (minimum). My question now is would I get the full maintenance for the year or only this semester?

Ngl knowing how trash sfe is you'll be honestly good if they give u money for the semester :frown:

. I wanted to ask what was the requirement to be considered estranged ? also, how did u afford the previous months at uni without any sfe ? unfortunately I'll be in a similr situation as u once I'm at uni in september :/

I moved to this country 5 years ago. Basically sat my alevels in 2023 so I had to take 2 gap years cuz at the time I couldn’t afford international fees. So I waited until this year when I finally got my permanent residency and now classed as home student

I am also rejected to get any student loan, although I am a home student classified by University. I am not having 3 years residency, I am joining my father as an EU family member and also have Indefinite leave to remain to live the UK and still rejected.

I am so sorry to hear that it’s awful ☹️ do u mind if I ask how you are financing ur studies ?

Right now I just got a part time job, I will save some money from there, but it’s not easy how much can I save from there as my monthly pay is below 700 quid……
Moreover, my parents are not in that situation to pay my fee, as my father is the only one who earns for all 6 family members…. ( I have part time job now) but still dependent on my father.
I am planning to take loan from somewhere else but how does that will work for me I don’t have any clue….
