Law or social work

Im currently thinking my choice on law may not be for me, I'm not sure if it is because of the amount of years it takes for me to become a qualified solicitor and difficulty in securing a TC or even relevant work experience, or maybe it just doesnt feel right and there may be other things i enjoy more?
I was thinking about social work, but i dont know if the pay for that is good, but id be qualified and able to work much quicker and it seems more interesting?
Can someone tell me which id more better or what i would be getting into?
Also good unis for social work.

Don't take that seriously.

That's just an illusion probably based purely on his/her perceived income of qualifalifed lawyers. But the first question is to get qualified. As you have mentioned there are extremely limited opportunities for the very large number of law graduates. Secondly, there is no guarantee you would get into a MC/SC firm. The income of a street lawyer is not astronomical.

Every profession has its own goods, so do social work and law. The most important is where your passion is. You will have very hard times going on a route that you do not belong to.

Hi there,

I understand that it is a difficult choice to make, especially because of the time it takes to study law and receive a qualification! My advice is to go with what you feel is right for you, considering where your interests lie, and what would make you the happiest or the most content in the long run. I also understand that money can play a role in your choice of study, but at the end of the day, that is not what matters the most, as long as you make a choice you won't regret further down the line.

I study a Master of Social Work at Kingston, and am looking forward to my placements to gain experience and see what it is really like in the field, which will be very different from what I'm currently experiencing in university.

If you are considering social work, just like law, it is not to be taken lightly, as it is a very demanding job!

If you are interested, here are a few links for social work courses at Kingston University, which are recognised as some of the best in London:
Social Work BA (Hons): https://www.kingston.ac.uk/undergraduate/courses/social-work/
Social Work BA (Hons) Integrated Degree Apprenticeship: https://www.kingston.ac.uk/degree-apprenticeships/programmes/social-work/

Hope this helps! Let me know if you have any more questions 🙂
