Warwick anxiety

I don’t want to sound like the people stellar grades that ask will they get in but I was rejected from UCL and Oxford pre interview because I did poor in my lnat and since Warwick doesn’t require it, it’s still highly competitive. I’m applying with A*A*A + A in History, Literature, maths and epq respectively with 999777765 in GCSE’s, I think my personal statement is okay but I’m quite scared because I NEEEEEED to go to Warwick

What is the breakdown of your GCSEs? Because if you got 9s in English and Maths you should not have any problems and even if you got 7s. However, if you got a 6 it is still acceptable but a 5 might hinder your chances.

If all is not well with your Warwick Law offer this year, then don't worry. Be happy you can take a gap year and work and save up thousands of pounds for your degree and resit the LNAT and submit a modified UCAS Personal Statement to Oxford, LSE, UCL, KCL and Warwick. 🙂

The break down is 999 (History , Lit, Language) 7777 (Maths, Further maths, Chem, Physics) 65 (Bio and computer science) im praying for Warwick though however I still have Nottingham

Your GCSEs are excellent!!! 😀

It is best to accept/firm the Nottingham University offer now. Because I have seen many barristers who graduated from Nottingham on barristers chambers websites profiles as well as top 50 UK and USA solicitors firms. 🙂 You should definitely do your LLM Masters at one of Harvard, Cambridge or LSE.

However, if your grades are A*AA or better then take a gap year and re-apply to Oxford, LSE, UCL, KCL and Warwick. 😉 But you could always do your undergraduate Law degree at Nottingham and postgraduate LLM at one of Harvard, Oxford, Cambridge or even the LSE!!! 🙂

It looks likely Warwick could be oversubscribed (it usually is every year) but Nottingham should be your firm choice if you don't get into Warwick. If you're still not happy, then take a gap year and re-apply.

I wonder where else you applied? I know you applied to Oxford, Warwick, Nottingham and UCL, what is your 5th choice?

Nottingham has an excellent reputation and the rest of your CV and law firm solicitor training contracts or barrister chambers pupillages will depend on YOU!!! 🙂

Just FYI, OP, thegeek888 hasn't applied to uni yet and, as such, is not the best source of advice on TSR

About half the training contracts go to Oxford and Cambridge, a quarter are split between London: LSE, UCL, KCL, QMUL and SOAS and another fifth between Durham, Warwick, Nottingham, Bristol, Manchester, York, Birmingham, Newcastle, Leeds and Southampton.

I wonder if you was interviewed by Oxford? Or was your LNAT not a high enough score? 😧

Thanks for the clarification. It was due to a poor performance in the LNAT, I just fully read the thread once again to refresh my memory. The LNAT average was 31 this year, so it is not surprising?! 😧

I have been a member of TSR since February 2003, as a 'youthful' teenager, almost when it was started as a website discussion forum in 2002. Also, I have been participating in discussions and PMs with with hundreds of applicants over 22 years since February 2003, especially Oxford and Cambridge as well as the LSE, Imperial, UCL, KCL, SOAS, QMUL, Durham, Warwick, Nottingham, Bristol, York, Edinburgh, Glasgow, St. Andrews and Manchester and a few others to name. From various subjects, including Medicine, Law, Engineering, Computer Science, Economics & Management, History, Politics, Experimental Psychology, Natural Sciences, Maths, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Biomedical Sciences, French, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Russian, Italian, Chinese, Arabic, Japanese, Hebrew, Persian, English Literature & Language, Economics, Philosophy, Politics and Economics, Philosophy, Land Economy, History of Art, Geography, Classics, Theology, Music, Earth Sciences and Human Sciences.

I will be taking A-Levels as a mature student in my 30s in A-Level Maths next year and A-Level Further Maths, French and Spanish the following year and then apply for Law at Oxford, LSE, UCL, KCL and SOAS in October 2027. So, don't think I don't know anything about degrees. Because I will achieve a minimum of A*AAA and perhaps up to A*A*A*A* if the right topics come up in the exam papers and a good performance in the speaking oral exams for French and Spanish. 🙂

Don’t firm an offer from Nottingham now if you want to go to Warwick! That is utterly bizarre advice.

Wait to hear from Warwick and then if you don’t get in, think about which offer you will firm.

That may well be, but you gave very poor advice on this thread.
