Hi! I just accepted my offer to study Sport Management at Bath! I am an American and don't know anyone there! How should I look for roommates or meet people? Did I choose a good school?

Hi! Congratulations on your offer! Bath has an excellent reputation for both academics and student experience, and the city itself is beautiful and full of history. I’m sure you’ll have a great time here 😊
There’s an accommodation allocation process (more info here), where you basically rank the accommodation options and then they are allocated out in a random order. So you might not get your first choice but you do have some say over where you end up! We have a few shared room options but most people have a room to themselves, so you’ll likely end up with flatmates rather than roommates. There are quite a few options to choose from (which you can find here) so it’s worth spending some time deciding what is most appropriate for you.
For a lot of people, the accommodation is very sociable, especially in the bigger blocks like westwood and quads. If you feel like you’re not socialising enough or not clicking with your flatmates though there are other opportunities to meet people. Fresher’s week is a great opportunity to meet a lot of people as everyone is very open to building new friendships in that time, but it can be hard to figure out who you really get on with when there are so many new people. Outside of that, societies and sports groups also present a good opportunity for meeting people with similar interests to you. As I’m sure you’re aware, Bath is particularly big on sports so I’d definitely recommend joining a group, even if you only want to play recreationally.
I hope that was helpful! I’m happy to answer any more questions you have about Bath 😊 Lauren, University of Bath.
