Hi Anonymous 1,

I hope you’re well! Both Parade Green and Cheney are great accommodation options at Oxford Brookes, and each has a different atmosphere. I haven’t stayed in most of the accommodations, so I’ve asked my friends for a breakdown of their general vibes based on their experiences:

Cheney Student Village: Often regarded as the most social accommodation because it is located on campus and next to the Sports Centre, which hosts multiple events and has the nearest gym facilities to Cheney. Cheney is also a popular choice for students needing a 50-week contract. It is slightly more expensive than Clive Booth (Blocks N–X and A–B) but offers a more modern living environment. Being on campus makes it a convenient first-year option, with all essential facilities within walking distance.

Parade Green: Managed by Unite Students but owned by Oxford Brookes, Parade Green benefits from larger beds, more social spaces, and an on-site gym. According to a friend, the en-suite bedrooms are very nice for under £200 per week and have similarities to other Unite Student accommodations. It is located 1.5 miles from campus, but the Brookes Bus Key makes commuting easy. Some students prefer living slightly further away from campus, as it helps them maintain a better work-life balance. Additionally, Parade Green is close to Templars Square and Cowley, providing easy access to shops and amenities. Paul Kent Halls, located nearby, has a similar vibe.

Clive Booth Student Village: The largest student village, offering a mix of accommodation blocks with different features. While social, it is generally less lively than Cheney because some blocks house postgraduate students, family flats, and exchange students. Clive Booth offers the same practical benefits as Cheney but is a 5–10 minute walk from campus. It has 38-week contract options, whereas Cheney is only available on a 50-week contract.

Other halls, like Paul Kent and Warneford Hall, are also good first-year options. Paul Kent has a similar atmosphere to Parade Green, while Warneford is a bit quieter.

In terms of vibe, Cheney and Parade Green are the most social, but their facilities, contract length and proximity to campus make them different. If you need a 38-week contract and prefer a quieter accommodation, Clive Booth (Blocks A–B or N–X) or Paul Kent would also be good options.

Hope this helps!
