Probably yes, but unfortunately you do need to contact them. (And the police, if you haven’t already). I’m so so sorry this happened to you, but if your uni doesn’t know that it happened, then they can’t help you

Hi there,
Firstly, I’m really sorry that this has happened to you. That sounds like an incredibly traumatic experience, and it’s completely understandable that you’ve been struggling.
Even though it might be difficult to reach out, it’s really important to let your university know what’s been going on - even if it’s just a quick message to your personal tutor. They will be understanding and can offer support, but right now, they don’t know why you’ve been absent. You shouldn’t have to deal with this alone, and on top of that, the stress of falling behind, upcoming assignments, and catching up could add to the pressure.
Missing two weeks is understandable given the circumstances, and your university will want to help you rather than punish you.
On a side note, have you been able to talk to any friends or family about what happened? You don’t have to go through this alone - looking after yourself is what’s most important right now
Take care -Maddie, Third year Health and Well-being in Society student at De Montfort University

Hi there @TheLegend0505 , I am so sorry to hear about what has happened to you! Just to add on to what the others have shared, if you can please do reach out to our personal tutor/ year leader about your situation, I'm sure they will understand and be able to assist you in applying for mitigating circumstances or link you up with your uni's wellbeing team to help you through this time. Hang in there!

Hi,
I am so sorry this has happened to you, I completely understand you not feeling comfortable attending university. Im sure your uni will understand too and as well as validating your absences they will be able to offer further support. I recommend reaching out to your personal/academic tutor and perhaps the wellbeing services your uni offers.

Hi there,
This is a dreadful thing to have happened and as others have said, really sorry to hear you've had to go through this - just know that whatever you're feeling is completely normal given your situation.
I would strongly advise you to contact A) your personal tutor - explain to them what's happened and why you've had to miss some uni time, and B) wellbeing services.
Here at Bath personal tutors can get the ball rolling to apply for coursework extensions or exam resits in situations like yours where you've faced something difficult that is beyond your control (also if people have suffered something like bereavement or mental health difficulties). We also have a wellbeing service which can help get you access to some counselling if you need a few sessions to talk through what you've been going through and rationalise things - your uni is bound to have something similar.
I'd lastly encourage you to stay strong. You've had to deal with an awful lot of adversity lately so please give yourself a break and make sure to look after yourself. Keep talking to friends and family, try to get some support, and I am sure things will begin to look brighter for you 🙂
