GCSE and medical school applicant

Hi guys so im currently in year 13 and I didn’t apply to med school this year as my UCAT was quite low and also my school didn’t give me the predicted grades I needed to apply for med. I have achieved 8,7,7,7,7,6,5,5,4 in my GCSEs im not sure if these gcse grades are competitive or good enough to apply to medical school as I want to stay close to London and I know gcse don’t really matter as long as you meet the entry requirements but im still worried that my 5 and 4s will affect my application?

Please help me out and give some advice?

Ur GCSEs are fine if you just apply strategically. If I may ask Wdym ur college didn’t predict u the right a levels what did u get in ur AS official exams cause they decide on that and maybe move ur predicted ucas grade above?

I got Bs in my AS so my skl was very strict and predicted me that so I didn’t apply this for the 2025 entry and I’m planning on taking a gap yr and apply in October

So they predict u based on your end of year 12 AS official exams ? They should have increased the grades higher for one because AS official exams only go up by A!!

I got 2x8’s, 3x7’s 2x6’s 1x5 and a 4 - my predicted grades AAA. But I’m contextual so one of my offers is ABB - also had a UCAT of 2710

Ahh I see. Honesty I didn’t do really good 27s 2Bs and 4Cs so end up resitting English language. I am not sure I should resit another what do u think? but I have pred of A*A A and a ucat of 2980. I am think of doing a new gcse like gcse Statsitics for a free 7 cuz I am doing a level maths .

I think you should go for it. 6 in English language and maths and you will be fine ! There are medicine universities which require a Lang, Maths (6) sometimes science. Your UCAT is so high you can apply to any university really. You would have to check policies on resits but ususally GCSEs shouldn’t be a problem. If you want advice on where to apply I would be more than happy to help

If you have a grade 6 in lang/maths you could defo apply to UCL for example with that UCAT.
