Should I think about applying to Oxford?

Hello I am currently in year 11 and want to study biology at university, and hopefully work in ecology after.
My current predicted grades are 99998865 (and a merit in childcare), with 9s in biology, chemistry, geography and language.
At a- levels I'm hoping to do chemistry, biology and either literature or classics (depending on what sixth form I attend). I did apply to some sixth forms as geography, biology and literature, but I am planning on switching geography for chemistry if possible
Would it be worth focusing on going to Oxford? And would my a level subject choices be reasonable?

You have a good chance, so please apply!!! 🙂

A-Levels in Biology, Chemistry and English Literature should be enough to meet the entry criteria.

Oxford colleges you could consider:

St.John's, Hertford, Balliol, Brasnose, Queen's, Magdalen, Wadham, Jesus and Worcester.

College Suggester - Oxford University Alternative Prospectus

No reason not to

Oxford is quite GCSE heavy, and although I'm sure you'd be fine with your current predicteds, I'd suggest trying to raise the 6 and 5 a bit if possible just for extra security.

If you aim for Oxford, you will basically be making your application the best it can be, as Oxford of course is one of the most competitive UK unis, that if you work towards that level your application should be really competitive for other unis too.

But make sure not to fixate too much on it. It is highly competitive and so many good people don't get accepted there every year. Remember to keep your options open, and a degree from a Uni other than Oxford is still a great one and one that you will enjoy.

As long as you switch lit for chem (the entry requirements need biology, and one of chemistry/maths/physics), you'd be fine. They won't care about the third being geography, jus that you can get A*AA

Thank you! I am planning on getting some tutoring to raise my 6 to a 7 or 8 if possible but my 5 is in photography so I'm mostly reliant on my teachers feedback on how to raise it. I'm not really too focused on going to Oxford as I know how difficult it is but it would be nice to see if I could get in.
