I just got an email from the UELA team saying one of the projects that I applied is unsuccessful, but that is expected since i was not even invited for interview for that one and they told me that before. But I still haven't heard back from the one that I interviewed, anyone knows what that means? Are all the rejections out already?

Hi, I haven’t received anything for Round 1 yet. I was interviewed and am still waiting for a response. According to the panel, they mentioned we would hear back in early April, but I’m not sure if anyone has received an acceptance yet. Does anyone know how it went last year?

There are around 117 available projects for uela this year and they only have 50 scholarships. So the majority of projects will not be given scholarships.
Would you know how does that happen? Are some projects discarded because they had no good applicants or do some professors have more than 1 project and choose one of them or something?

I think the selection should first consider the faculties. There are seven faculties, and ideally, at least one or two grants should be awarded to each. It would be fairer to distribute the grants among the faculties, although those with a higher number of projects might naturally receive more. That would make the process more meaningful.

Yes, we’ve passed the interview stage and have been nominated by the departments, but the panel still needs to decide on the final 50 successful candidates. I read through last year’s thread, and it seems we’ll need to wait until next week. If we don’t receive any updates by then, we might, unfortunately, be unsuccessful. Hopefully, we’ll hear some good news soon!

Congratulations! Was it from the faculty or the institute? If the faculty sent you the email, it likely means you’ve been successfully accepted! May I know which faculty ?
