I studied in the screen school at LCC graduating 2020.
Pre-pandemic there were a few societies. Afraid I didn't join any but what I gleaned is that social life at LCC is difficult for a number of reasons.

1.

Students are more invested in their studies these days due to the higher financial investment. There is a lot of anxiety to make the most of the academic opportunity so devoting time to voluntary or society activities has become rarer.

2.

A growing chort of students are international. I think the figures skew to the majority being from abroad. A young person coming to London from afar can be overwhelmed. I have spoken to graduates from China who often say they found the experience lonely and their peers unfriendly. I don't think this is true, per say. I think it is a symptom of the reason above.

I'd encourage you to join whatever societies are available. UAL has 4 sites and the societies often span across them. The opportunity to connect with students across London is actually huge but so is the pressure. G'luck!
