Should I drop my EPQ?

Hi,
I am currently studying Maths, Biology and Psychology and I am taking an epq. I aim to study optometry at university, however my epq is about How gender sensitive pedagogy can effect the outcomes of students- which is very unrelated.
I am not enjoying EPQ and it is a one year course, but its seriously getting in the way. But I came on here to wonder, is it okay if i drop it? I aim to apply to uni of herts, city university and maybe a few others for biology- will it make much of a difference in my application if I only have three alevels?
I would really appreciate any input, thank you !!

If i were you i would drop it, it is only causing stress and wasting time, and it could affect your other a-level results and as you said it isn't related to your job prospects

Hi sillymimmi!!

I did an EPQ alongside my A-levels and completely understand how hard it is! I would drop it if you feel like it is getting in the way of your actually A - Levels ! An EPQ is up to 28 ucas points which is the equalivant to half an A-Level! If you can drop the EPQ and focus on getting more UCAS points through your A Level grades I would definitely drop it ☺️

Thanks so much for the advice! I was just concious of not being to stand out amongst the crazy amount of students who are also applying to unis- My teachers always say how epq is good to have etc etc, but do you think i'll still be okay without it? I have employment history which is directly related to optometry too

Don't get me wrong i think EPQ is amazing if you have nothing else that makes you stand out and it's a really good way to see how good your work ethic is when it comes to individual projects! However, the fact you have work experience that directly relates to your field at your age is amazing and will definitely make you stand out! Make sure to say how it impacted you and how that directly relates to how that will make you an amazing uni student! You will smash it so don't stress!
