HSBC Degree Apprenticeship (WPB) - Need Advice!

Hello, I really need some advice.

I am a student currently about to finish my A-levels this year, and I've thankfully received an offer from HSBC for a degree apprenticeship (with LIBF).

I would really like to work in a banking / finance industry, so I'm really happy to receive this offer.

However, I'm really torn between going to University and studying Finance / Economics or accepting this opportunity with HSBC.

From anyone who has received an offer from HSBC (regardless what area) can you please give me some advice as to why you decided to accept the offer?

Also, if you're currently working as a degree apprentice with HSBC in Wealth and Personal Banking and in your final year, what opportunities do you get to work in other areas of HSBC? More specifically the banking / wealth management / any areas of finance department?

Thank you so much for your insights!

I would never turn down a free finance degree and a guaranteed job at a globally recognised bank, literally the biggest W ever. What are the pros and cons of going to uni in your opinion?

Go for the HSBC Degree apprenticeship!

It is really competitive and not a lot of people land an offer so consider yourself lucky and worthy of making it to the final stage. You'll be gaining relevant experience from the very start and a well-respected qualification.

I'd recommend that you reach out to current apprentices on LinkedIn as they can offer you an accurate overview of their experiences and opportunities offered. Good luck with whatever route you end up choosing

I would pick the degree apprenticeship and congratulations! Also, what areas were HSBC doing apprenticeships for because I'm trying to research apprenticeships and for next year and I can't see any of HSBC's apprenticeships.
