A-Level Economics Revision

I’ve been struggling to revise and study for my A-Levels, especially economics, as I am quite overwhelmed from the amount of content and my upcoming exams in May. Does anybody have any tips as to how I could go about doing this?

Hi @given-taken

Identifying the best way you personally revise will massively increase your efficiency when revising. Focus on what works for you rather than what others are doing.

Revision methods
Firstly, I also recommend identifying your favourite learning style. Take a quick look into visual, acoustic and kinesthetics learning styles. You may find you learn better with one style over the others, or a combination of styles. Here are some examples of revision methods for each.

Visual - Mind maps, diagrams, colour coding
Auditory - read aloud, audio books and discussions
Kinaesthetic - building models, taking notes and teaching others

Personally, I love teaching others to revise. Being able to explain a concept can allow you the gauge how well you understand it.

I also highly recommend doing past papers so you can find you strengths and weaknesses. This will help pinpoint your revision. Make sure to mark some yourself so you can get a greater understanding of what the examiner is looking for. Also get some marked by teachers so you can get another perspective.

Finally, I recommend making a revision timetable. Make this fit around your studies and hobbies, its really important you still make time to socialise and have fun otherwise you will get burnt out. When making a timetable, take into account what topics you need to study the most and factor in regular breaks.

I hope this helps, please feel free to ask me any questions,
-Sophia (Business and Management)

idk if they're the same but personally I'm finding it really hard to get into higher mark bands on the essays! One thing I do for content is flashcard with lpolicies and evaluation - I've never been a fan of flashcards before but am suddenly finding them useful! also find the micro and macro paper hard. Good luck to you!

Good luck to you too! I used flashcards in the past and found it worked when there was less content to remember...but now that there is so much more I haven't been able to catch up and make them all, and starting now seems like a huge waste of time 🙁 For the essays,I find that it helps to follow a set structure according to the number of marks you can get, as well as write up an essay plan before you do it, even if it is just a brief one, with key points. Trust me, it makes the biggest difference and you also don't forget what you have to write when you have time constraints!

yeah definitely! time constraints are my biggest issue since I'm a pretty slow writer. also for content I'm sure you've been told but econplusdal is saving me rn 😔 I also like tutor2u since Geoff Riley has some good real world application
