vet med application for 2026, do i have a chance?

Hi, I'm in year 12 and wanting to apply to veterinary medicine. i was wondering if my stats are okay to apply with/ if I have a chance and any advice on improving my application/ other work experience I could get.
I'm currently predicted A* in biology, A in chemistry and A in art
my GCSE's are 9,9,8,8,8,8,8,7,6,6,5
my work experience so far is
3 weeks at 3 different small animal practices
around 3 days at a diary farm
1 day at bristol unis abbatoir (bristol is my top choice)
I also have done extra things such as a TEDx talk, a talk at the great oracy event and a Tefl course.

I know that I need to get more farm experience and a cattery/kennels. the main thing I am worried about is that my GCSE's are too low. it would be nice to know if anyone has got an offer with similar GCSE's to mine

Your grades look fine to me! The main thing to do is to check the requirements on the university websites, most will say for example at least a 6 in English and 6/5 grades at a 7 and above. When you get above these grades to most universities it will not give you an advantage. Bristol actually doesn’t place a big emphasis on work experience, but instead do a questionnaire about skills and insight into vet med as a career. If your worried about work experience take a look at the university requirements as well most a dropped their requirements down, but it’s always good to get as much as you can as it can be helpful in interviews, but your on the right track!
For reference I got 99888766 at gsce and I have three offers: Bristol, Liverpool, Nottingham, so your grades shouldn’t be a problem.

Best thing you can have for Bristol is customer facing experience! Due to the nature of our course it’s very group work heavy and so they want to see you work well in a team and how you work through challenges you may face. Teamwork is a massive part of being a vet and it’s a hard skill to get through just observing on WEX etc!

3 weeks at 3 different small animal vets
2 weeks on a dairy farm
2 1/2 days at a equine vet
1 week at a wildlife hospital
But honestly majority universty require less and don’t give an advantage to having more than what they require. Just a little tip though is make sure you get the references for your work experience places because some universities require it in a certain format.
